The purpose of this article is to qualitatively describe and critically explain the discursive construction of employee co-operation negotiations in Finland as an arena for management-by-fear. The article consists of a theoretical review, covering the legislative basis of co-operation negotiations and recent research on management-by-fear. The empirical study consists of media texts and company media releases in Finland in 2012–2013. Previous research in extinction indicates no difference in US expectancies for aversive and non-aversive unconditioned stimuli (USs). In this study, we bridged these topics by examining how concurrent perceptual and conceptual cues influence conditioned generalisation of generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) patients by using non-aversive USs. In ciò mi pare che la paura e, più in generale, l’intero ambito della vita emotiva, possa e anzi debba attirare l’interesse della ricerca filosofica, e specificamente, teoretica. La questione può essere posta sinteticamente in questi termini: la ragione fa paura? Pensare provoca una simile reazione emotiva? E se sì, in che senso?

The article introduces the book Fear, Space and Urban Planning. A Critical Perspective from Southern Europe by S. Tulumello highlighting that the intention and the value of this book is to foreground the more opaque instances of fear in the urban dimension, opaque, i.e. from a mainstream or media perspective, the instances which do not make the news or are taken for granted as part of the routine of public debates. In order to do so, the author adopts a critical perspective on fear and urban planning, raising significant issues and questions about a wider range of theoretical implications and drawing on his research and his experience of living in Southern Europe.

Protection motivation theory (PMT) is one of the most commonly used theories to examine information security behaviors. Our systematic review of the application of PMT in information systems (IS) security and the comparison with its application for decades in psychology identified five categories of important issues that have not yet been examined in IS security research. Objectives: To assess predictors of hip-protector use in nursing home residents under usual-care conditions and after intervention consisting of structured education of nurses and nursing home residents and provision of free hip protectors. Design: Nested cohort analyses within a cluster randomized, controlled trial with 18 months follow-up. Setting: Forty-nine nursing home clusters in Hamburg, Germany. Factors associated with fear of falling among frail older adults

Some factors increase the fear of falling in frail older adults. Our aim is to quantify the influence of these factors. This cross-sectional study involved 229 community-dwelling prefrail and frail older adults aged 70 years and older. Fear of falling was moderate in 38.9% of our sample and high in 12.2%. Higher values were observed in women, those living alone, and those meeting criteria for slowness and feelings of exhaustion.
