Traumatic experiences in childhood and psychopathy: a study on a sample of violent offenders from Italy

Background: The link between early traumatic experiences of abuse/neglect and criminal behaviour has been widely demonstrated. Less is known, however, about the relationship between these experiences and the development of psychopathic personality. Objective: This study investigated childhood relational trauma in a group of violent offenders from Italy. We hypothesised a higher level of early relational trauma associated with higher scores on psychopathy. Layered composite based on halloysite and natural polymers: a carrier for the pH controlled release of drugs

We have prepared new biohybrid materials based on halloysite nanotubes and natural polymers (alginate and chitosan) for the controlled and sustained release of bioactive species. A functional nanoarchitecture has been designed allowing us to generate a layered tablet with a chitosan/halloysite nanocomposite film sandwiched between two alginate layers. The assembly of the raw components and the final structure of the hybrid tablet have been highlighted by the morphological and wettability properties of the prepared materials. Calcium signatures induced by two elicitors of plant defense reactions, namely cryptogein and oligogalacturonides, were monitored at the subcellular level, using apoaequorin-transformed Nicotiana tabacum var Xanthi cells, in which the apoaequorin calcium sensor was targeted either to cytosol, mitochondria or chloroplasts. Our study showed that both elicitors induced specific Ca2+ signatures in each compartment, with the most striking difference relying on duration. Atmospheric samples have been collected between 14 March and 12 September 2012 on a 2-week basis (15 days of sampling and exchange of traps each 7 days) in Strasbourg (east of France) for the analysis of 43 pesticides. Samples (particle and gas phases) were separately extracted using Accelerated Solvent Extraction (ASE) and pre-concentrated by Solid Phase Micro-Extraction (SPME) before analysis by gas chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). The uptake and metabolism of anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac (DCF) was studied by exposing rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to DCF intraperitoneally, and via water at concentration of 1.7 μg L(-1). The bile was collected and the formed metabolites were identified. The identification was based on the exact mass determinations by a time-of-flight mass analyzer and on the studies of fragments and fragmentation patterns of precursor ions by an ion trap mass analyzer. Abstract A methodology has been developed for the determination of pyrethroid insecticide residues in vegetable oils, based in a solid-phase extraction (SPE) with combined solid supports phases. Abstract One hundred and sixteen orange and tangerine samples from an agricultural cooperative of the Valencian Community (Spain) were analyzed for bitertanol, carbendazim, hexythiazox, imazalil, imidacloprid, methidathion, methiocarb, pyriproxyfen, thiabendazole, and trichlorfon by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) after a conventional multiresidue extraction procedure.
