The $Z$ boson in the Framed Standard Model

The framed standard model (FSM), constructed initially for explaining the existence of three fermion generations and the hierarchical mass and mixing patterns of quarks and leptons, suggests also a "hidden sector" of particles including some dark matter candidates. It predicts in addition a new vector boson $G$, with mass of order TeV, which mixes with the $\gamma$ and $Z$ of the standard model yielding deviations from the standard mixing scheme, all calculable in terms of a single unknown parameter $m_G$. Search for squark production in events with jets, hadronically decaying tau leptons and missing transverse energy at s=1.96 TeV

A search for supersymmetric partners of quarks is performed in the topology of multijet events accompanied by at least one tau lepton decaying hadronically and large missing transverse energy. Approximately 1 fb(-1) of p (p) over bar collision data from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV recorded by the D detector is analyzed. Results are combined with the previously published DO inclusive search for squarks and gluinos. Search for scalar leptoquarks and T-odd quarks in the acoplanar jet topology using of collision data at

A search for new physics in the acoplanar jet topology has been performed in 2.5 fb(-1) of data from p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, recorded by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The numbers of events with exactly two acoplanar jets and missing transverse energy are in good agreement with the Standard Model expectations. The result of this search has been used to set a lower mass limit of 205 GeV at the 95% C.L. on the mass of a scalar leptoquark when this particle decays exclusively into a quark and a neutrino. Flavor Non-universal Pati-Salam Unification and Neutrino Masses

We analyze the neutrino mass spectrum and discuss the extra-dimensional interpretation of a three-site Pati-Salam model which i) unifies all families of quark and leptons, ii) provides a natural description of the Standard Model Yukawa couplings, iii) could account for the recent $B$-physics anomalies. The key feature of the model is a breaking of the Pati-Salam and electroweak gauge symmetries localized on opposite sites, communicated to the other sites in an attenuated manner via nearest-neighbor interactions. Neutrinoless double beta decay in the dualized standard model

2001

The Dualized Standard Model offers a {\it raison d'\^etre} for 3 fermion generations and an explanation for their distinctive mass and mixing patterns, reproducing to a reasonable accuracy the empirical mixing matrix and mass spectrum for both quarks and leptons in terms of just a few parameters. With its parameters thus fixed, the result is a highly predictive framework. In particular, it is shown that it gives explicit parameter-free predictions for neutrinoless double beta decays. For $^{76}Ge$, it predicts a half-life of $10^{28}-10^{30}$ years, which satisfies the present experimental lower bound of $1.8 \times 10^{25}$ years.

Non-perturbative renormalisation of left left four-fermion operators with Neuberger fermions

We outline a general strategy for the non-perturbative renormalisation of composite operators in discretisations based on Neuberger fermions, via a matching to results obtained with Wilson-type fermions. As an application, we consider the renormalisation of the four-quark operators entering the Delta S=1 and Delta S=2 effective Hamiltonians. Our results are an essential ingredient for the determination of the low-energy constants governing non-leptonic kaon decays.

η−η′-glueball mixing

We have revisited glueball mixing with the pseudoscalar mesons in the MIT bag model scheme. The calculation has been performed in the spherical cavity approximation to the bag using two different fermion propagators, the cavity and the free propagators. We obtain probabilities of mixing for the $\ensuremath{\eta}$ at the level of 0.006%--2.0%, while for the ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ one at the level of 0.6%--40%, depending on the choice of bag radius and, therefore, of the strong coupling constant. Heavy Baryon Specroscopy from the Lattice

The results of an exploratory lattice study of heavy baryon spectroscopy are presented. We have computed the full spectrum of the eight baryons containing a single heavy quark, on a $24^3\times 48$ lattice at $\beta=6.2$, using an $O(a)$-improved fermion action. We discuss the lattice baryon operators and give a method for isolating the contributions of the spin doublets $(\Sigma,\Sigma^*)$, $(\Xi',\Xi^*)$ and $(\Omega,\Omega^*)$ to the correlation function of the relevant operator. We compare our results with the available experimental data and find good agreement in both the charm and the beauty sectors, despite the long extrapolation in the heavy quark mass needed in the latter case. Search for vectorlikeBquarks in events with one isolated lepton, missing transverse momentum, and jets ats=8  TeVwith the ATLAS detector

A search has been performed for pair production of heavy vectorlike down-type (B) quarks. The analysis explores the lepton-plus-jets final state, characterized by events with one isolated charged lepton (electron or muon), significant missing transverse momentum, and multiple jets. One or more jets are required to be tagged as arising from b quarks, and at least one pair of jets must be tagged as arising from the hadronic decay of an electroweak boson. The analysis uses the full data sample of pp collisions recorded in 2012 by the ATLAS detector at the LHC, operating at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb(-1). Heavy quarks and tau leptons: New physics opportunities

In this talk I discuss the role of heavy quarks in new physics searches with tau leptons. I focus on new physics effects associated to the scalar sector which are naturally enhanced for the heaviest fermions due to the large hierarchy of the fermion masses. I will discuss two topics within this context: lepton flavour violation in the $\tau - \ell$ ($\ell=e,\mu$) sector and violations of lepton universality in tauonic $B$ decays.
