Measurement of the DirectCP-violating Charge Asymmetry inDs±→ϕπ±Decays

2014

We present a measurement of the direct CP-violating charge asymmetry in Ds+ → ϕ π(±) decays where the ϕ meson decays to K(+)K(-), using the full Run II data set with an integrated luminosity of 10.4  fb-1 of proton-antiproton collisions collected using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The normalized difference A(CP) in the yield of D(s)(+) and D(s)(-) mesons in these decays is measured by fitting the difference between their reconstructed invariant mass distributions. This results in an asymmetry of A(CP) = [-0.38 ± 0.27]%, which is the most precise measurement of this quantity to date. The result is consistent with the standard model prediction of zero CP asymmetry in thi…

Search for Higgs Boson Production in Dilepton and Missing Energy Final States with5.4  fb−1ofpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2010

A search for the standard model Higgs boson is presented using events with two charged leptons and large missing transverse energy selected from 5.4 fb-1 of integrated luminosity in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. No significant excess of events above background predictions is found, and observed (expected) upper limits at 95% confidence level on the rate of Higgs boson production are derived that are a factor of 1.55 (1.36) above the predicted standard model cross section at Higgs boson mass of 165 GeV.

Measurement of theWBoson Production Charge Asymmetry inpp¯→W+X→eν+XEvents ats=1.96  TeV

2014

We present a measurement of the W boson production charge asymmetry in p (p) over bar -> W + X -> ev + X events at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV, using 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The neutrino longitudinal momentum is determined by using a neutrino weighting method, and the asymmetry is measured as a function of the W boson rapidity. The measurement extends over wider electron pseudorapidity region than previous results and is the most precise to date, allowing for precise determination of proton parton distribution functions in global fits.

Measurement of the Polarization of theΥ(1S)andΥ(2S)States inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2008

We present a study of the polarization of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ states using a $1.3 $ fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected by the D0 experiment in 2002--2006 during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the polarization parameter $\alpha=(\sigma_{T}-2\sigma_{L})/(\sigma_{T}+2\sigma_{L})$, where $\sigma_{T}$ and $\sigma_{L}$ are the transversely and longitudinally polarized components of the production cross section, as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_{T}^{\Upsilon}$) for the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$. Significant $p_{T}^{\Upsilon}$-dependent longitudinal polarization is observed for the $\Upsilon(1S)$. A comparison with theoretical models is prese…

Evidence for Simultaneous Production ofJ/ψandϒMesons

2016

We report evidence for the simultaneous production of $J/\psi$ and $\Upsilon$ mesons in 8.1 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at $\sqrt{s}=$1.96 TeV by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab $p \bar p$ Tevatron Collider. Events with these characteristics are expected to be produced predominantly by gluon-gluon interactions. In this analysis, we extract the effective cross section characterizing the initial parton spatial distribution, $\sigma_{eff}=2.2\pm 0.7\mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.9 \mbox{(syst)} ~\mbox{mb}$.

Measurement of directCPviolation parameters inB±→J/ψK±andB±→J/ψπ±decays with10.4  fb−1of Tevatron data

2013

We present a measurement of the direct CP-violating charge asymmetry in B-+/- mesons decaying to J/psi K-+/- and J/psi pi(+/-) where J/psi decays to mu(+)mu(-), using the full run II data set of 10.4 fb(-1) of proton-antiproton collisions collected using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. A difference in the yield of B- and B+ mesons in these decays is found by fitting to the difference between their reconstructed invariant mass distributions resulting in asymmetries of A(J/psi K) = [0.59 +/- 0.37]%, which is the most precise measurement to date, and A(J/psi pi) = [-4.2 +/- 4.5]%. Both measurements are consistent with standard model predictions.

Observation of theBcMeson in the Exclusive DecayBc→J/ψπ

2008

A fully reconstructed B-c -> J/psi pi signal is observed with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar collider using 1.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The signal consists of 54 +/- 12 candidates with a significance that exceeds 5 standard deviations, and confirms earlier observations of this decay. The measured mass of the B-c meson is 6300 +/- 14(stat)+/- 5(syst) MeV/c(2).

Measurement of Inclusive Differential Cross Sections forΥ(1S)Production inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96   TeV

2005

We present measurements of the inclusive production cross sections of the Upsilon(1S) bottomonium state in p (p) over bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV. Using the Upsilon(1S)->mu(+)mu(-) decay mode for a data sample of 159 +/- 10 pb(-1) collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, we determine the differential cross sections as a function of the Upsilon(1S) transverse momentum for three ranges of the Upsilon(1S) rapidity: 0 <\y(Upsilon)\<= 0.6, 0.6 <\y(Upsilon)\<= 1.2, and 1.2 <\y(Upsilon)\<= 1.8.

Search for Large Extra Dimensions in theMonojet+E̸TChannel with the DØ Detector

2003

We present a search for large extra dimensions (ED) in p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using data collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994-1996. Data corresponding to 78.8+/-3.9 pb(-1) are examined for events with large missing transverse energy, one high-p(T) jet, and no isolated muons. There is no excess observed beyond expectation from the standard model, and we place lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale of 1.0 and 0.6 TeV for 2 and 7 ED, respectively.

Measurement of theWW+WZProduction Cross Section Using thelepton+jetsFinal State at CDF II

2010

We report two complementary measurements of the diboson (WW + WZ) cross section in the final state consisting of an electron or muon, missing transverse energy, and jets, performed using p{bar p} collision data at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV collected by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The first method uses the dijet invariant mass distribution while the second method uses more of the kinematic information in the event through matrix-element calculations of the signal and background processes and has a higher sensitivity. The result from the second method has a signal significance of 5.4{sigma} and is the first observation of WW + WZ production using this signature. Combining the results from …
