Locality properties of Neuberger's lattice Dirac operator
1998
The gauge covariant lattice Dirac operator D which has recently been proposed by Neuberger satisfies the Ginsparg-Wilson relation and thus preserves chiral symmetry. The operator also avoids a doubling of fermion species, but its locality properties are not obvious. We now prove that D is local (with exponentially decaying tails) if the gauge field is sufficiently smooth at the scale of the cutoff. Further analytic and numerical studies moreover suggest that the locality of the operator is in fact guaranteed under far more general conditions.
Chromomagnetic dipole-operator corrections inB¯→XsγatO(β0αs2)
2010
We calculate the fermionic corrections to the photon-energy spectrum of $\overline{B}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{X}_{s}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ which arise from the self-interference of the chromomagnetic dipole operator ${Q}_{8}$ at next-to-next-to-leading order by applying naive non-Abelianization. The resulting $\mathcal{O}({\ensuremath{\beta}}_{0}{\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}^{2})$ correction to the $\overline{B}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{X}_{s}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ branching ratio amounts to a relative shift of $+0.12%$ ($+0.27%$) for a photon-energy cut of 1.6 GeV (1.0 GeV). We also comment on the potential size of resummation and nonperturbative effects related to ${Q}_{8}$.
NEUTRINO SPECTRUM IN NONSUPERSYMMETRIC SO(10)
1996
We present a predictive scheme for fermion masses and mixings inspired by nonsupersymmetric SO(10) in which the hierarchy problem is resolved without fine tuning the Yukawa couplings. This calls for a nonminimal Higgs sector which we exploit in deriving the expressions for the mass matrices. To keep the predictivity of the model under control we limit the structure of the mass matrices by imposing U(1) symmetries. A very predictive neutrino spectrum is then obtained.
Extraction of K --> pi pi matrix elements with Wilson fermions
2001
We present the status of a lattice calculation for the K-->pipi matrix elements of the (delta S=1) effective weak Hamiltonian, directly with two pion in the final state. We study the energy shift of two pion in a finite volume both in the I=0 and I=2 channels. We explain a method to avoid the Goldstone pole contamination in the computation of renormalization constants for (delta I=3/2) operators. Finally we show some preliminary results for the matrix elements of (delta I=1/2) operators. Our quenched simulation is done at beta=6.0, with Wilson fermions, on a (24^3 X 64) lattice.
μ-e conversion in nuclei and Z' physics
1993
Together with the existence of new neutral gauge bosons, models based on extended gauge groups (rank > 4) often predict also new charged fermions. A mixing of the known fermions with new states with exotic weak-isospin assignments (left-handed singlets and right-handed doublets) will induce tree level flavour changing neutral interactions mediated by Z exchange, while if the mixing is only with new states with ordinary weak-isospin assignments, the flavour changing neutral currents are mainly due to the exchange of the lightest new neutral gauge boson Z'. We show that the present experimental limits on μ-e conversion in nuclei give a nuclear-model-independent bound on the Z-e-μ vertex which…
Left-right symmetry breaking in NJL approach
1995
We study left-right symmetric models which contain only fermion and gauge boson fields and no elementary scalars. The Higgs bosons are generated dynamically through a set of gauge- and parity-invariant 4-fermion operators. It is shown that in a model with a composite bi-doublet and two triplet scalars there is no parity breaking at low energies, whereas in the model with two doublets instead of two triplets parity is broken automatically regardless of the choice of the parameters of the model. For phenomenologically allowed values of the right-handed scale a tumbling symmetry breaking mechanism is realized in which parity breaking at a high scale $\mu_R$ propagates down and eventually cause…
Simpson's neutrino and the singular seesaw
1991
We derive explicit forms for the neutrino and lepton "mixing-matrices" which describe the generic singular see-saw model. The dependence on the hierarchy parameter is contrasted with the non-singular case. Application is made to Simpson's 17 keV neutrino.
Matrix elements of (delta S=2) operators with Wilson fermions
2002
We test the recent proposal of using the Ward identities to compute the K0-K0bar mixing amplitude with Wilson fermions, without the problem of spurious lattice subtractions. From our simulations, we observe no difference between the results obtained with and without subtractions. In addition, from the standard study of the complete set of (delta S=2) operators, we quote the following (preliminary) results (in the MS(NDR) scheme): Bk(2 GeV)=0.70(10), < O7^{3/2}>_{K->pi pi} = 0.10(2)(1) GeV^3, < O8^{3/2}>_{K->pi pi} = 0.49(6)(0) GeV^3.
Non-perturbative renormalisation of four fermion operators and B0 −B0 bar mixing with Wilson fermions
2003
We present new results for the renormalisation and subtraction constants for the four fermion DeltaF = 2 operators, computed non-perturbatively in the RI-MOM scheme (in the Landau gauge). From our preliminary analysis of the lattice data at beta = 6.45, for the B-0 - B-0,mixing bag-parameter we obtain B-B(RGI) = 1.46(7)(1).
Minimal technicolor on the lattice
2009
Abstract We present results from a lattice study of SU(2) gauge theory with 2 flavors of Dirac fermions in adjoint representation. This is a candidate for a minimal (simplest) walking technicolor theory, and has been predicted to possess either an IR fixed point (where the physics becomes conformal) or a coupling which evolves very slowly, so-called walking coupling. In this initial part of the study we investigate the lattice phase diagram and the excitation spectrum of the theory.
