In compounds such as these, only a combination of different techniques such as Mussbauer spectroscopy, IR analysis, and thermogravimetry allows the distribution of cations to be obtained. For very complicated distributions, the mathematical decomposition of derivative thermogravimetric curves (DTG) leading to quantitative distribution is uncertain. Efficient Low-Frequency Modal Analysis of Anechoic Chamber

An efficient method to analyze the electromagnetic field inside rectangular anechoic and semianechoic chambers from 30 to 100 MHz is shown. A modal expansion is employed to develop the homogeneous and the inhomogeneous field. This is combined with circuital techniques to compute the effect of the layers of ferrite and dielectrics in the walls of the chamber. Several numerical results of the Free Space Transmission Loss (FSTL) of an anechoic chamber and the Normalized Site Attenuation (NSA) of a semianechoic chamber are provided.

This study presents a numerical and experimental study on the effect of permanent magnet tolerances on the performances of a Tubular Linear Ferrite Motor. The statistical distribution of the magnetic characteristic of a set of commercial magnets is obtained experimentally while the performances of a the tubular motor are numerically evaluated. The performances that have been considered are: cogging force, end effect force and generated thrust. Design and experimental verification of a smart sensor to measure the energy and power consumption in a one-phase AC line

Abstract A mixed electronic system has been designed to measure the active, apparent and reactive energies delivered to a load in a single-phase AC voltage line. For this purpose a smart sensor (ADE7753 from Analog Devices) was used. A magnetoresistance sensor is used as a current transducer and it is constant current biased by a generalized impedance converter. The magnetoresistance sensor technology provides direct isolation from the mains voltage and ferrite cores are not needed like Hall counterparts. All the measurements provided by the ADE7753 are read through the parallel port of the computer using a LabView application, which will process and present the readings to the user.
A DRO-based X-band injection-locked amplifier without input non-reciprocal elements

Conventional design of injection-locked amplifiers (ILA's) implies the use of a non-reciprocal (ferrite, usually) element for separating the input signal from the synchronized output signal. In this paper a novel topological structure is proposed which permitted the realization of a wide-band, transmission-type, ILA with no need for separating input-port isolator or preamplifier. The prototype, realized in HMIC technology, while intended only as demonstrator of the newly proposed approach in the design of ILA's, shows quite satisfactory performances at X-band, with a simple, compact and low-cost structure.
Technogenic Magnetic Particles in Alkaline Dusts from Power and Cement Plants

During this study, we investigated the mineralogical characterization of technogenic magnetic particles (TMPs) contained in alkaline industrial dust and fly ash emitted by coal burning power plants and cement plants. The reaction of tested dust samples varied between values of pH 8 and pH 12. Their magnetic properties were characterized by measurement of magnetic susceptibility (χ), frequency dependence of magnetic susceptibility (χ(fd)), and temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility. An experimental study on the effect of permanent magnet tolerances on the performances of a Tubular Linear Ferrite Motor is presented in this paper. The performances that have been investigated are: cogging force, end effect cogging force and generated thrust. It is demonstrated that: 1) the statistical variability of the magnets introduces harmonics in the spectrum of the cogging force; 2) the value of the end effect cogging force is directly linked to the values of then remanence field of the external magnets placed on the slider; 3) the generated thrust and its statistical distribution depend on the remanence field of the magnets placed on the translator.
High field magnetization of the colloidal Mn–Zn ferrite

Abstract The magnetic properties of a hydrocarbon based colloid (stabilized by oleic acid) of polydisperse chemically co-precipitated Mn 0.5 Zn 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 particles are discussed in the paper. Two fractions are separated from an initial ferrofluid sample by centrifugation. X-ray diffraction measurements show the crystal structure of the particles and a broadened shape of the diffraction lines. Mean particle diameters 6.2 nm (the light fraction) and 9.7 nm (the heavy one) were determined by TEM measurements. The magnetization of the colloids is measured by VSM up to 12 T. Modelling the carbon Snoek peak in ferrite: Coupling molecular dynamics and kinetic Monte-Carlo simulations

Abstract Molecular statics, molecular dynamics and kinetic Monte-Carlo are used to model the carbon Snoek peak in ferrite. Using an interatomic EAM potential for the Fe–C system, saddle point energies for the diffusion of carbon have been evaluated under uniaxial stress by molecular statics. These energies have been reintroduced in a kinetic Monte-Carlo scheme to predict the repartition of carbon atoms in different octahedral sites. This repartition leads to an anelastic deformation calculated by molecular dynamics, which causes internal friction (the Snoek peak) for cyclic stress.
