Kinetic evidence for the solubilization of pyridine-2-azo-p-dimethylaniline in alkanediyl-α,ω-bis(dimethylcetylammonium nitrate) surfactants. Role of…
2004
The incorporation of the bidentate ligand pyridine-2-azo-p-dimethylaniline (PADA) into micellar aggregates of the dimeric cationic surfactants propanediyl-, hexanediyl- and dodecanediyl-alpha,omega-bis(dimethylcetylammonium nitrate) (16-3-16,2NO(3)(-), 16-6-16,2NO(3)(-) and 16-12-16,2NO(3)(-), respectively) has been studied at 25 degreesC by examining the kinetics of the complexation reaction of the Ni(II) ion with this ligand. For comparison, cetyltrimethylammonium nitrate ( CTAN), which can be considered as the "monomeric'' surfactant of 16-3-16,2NO(3)(-), has also been used. The kinetic data have shown that, for 16-3-16,2NO(3)(-) and CTAN, at a surfactant concentration below the critical…
Nickel-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl zinc reagent with CO2: A theoretical and experimental study
2019
Abstract Two Ni-complexes with 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) and tricyclohexylphosphine (PCy3) ligands were tested for the Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling of aryl zinc reagent with CO2 to form aryl carboxylic acid. Theoretical study with the aid of density functional theory (DFT) was carried out to understand the detailed reaction mechanism. The reasonable reaction pathway was deduced. The simulation results suggested that the free energy barrier of the rate-limiting step with (dppf)Ni is only 1.64 kcal mol−1 higher than the barrier with (PCy3)2Ni. However, our experiment provided an unexpectedly low yield by using (dppf)Ni complex as the catalyst. Further theoretical study ascrib…
Toward more realistic viscosity measurements of tyre rubber–bitumen blends
2014
AbstractThe measurement of rheological properties of the tyre rubber bitumen blends is often challenging due to presence of suspended tyre rubber’s crumbs. Furthermore, the phase separation during the course of measurements makes the viscosity of these non-homogeneous blends difficult to ascertain. In this study, a new dual helical impeller was designed and manufactured to be used with a rotational viscometer in order to have a real-time control of the viscosity while performing a laboratory mixing of the blends. Layer based manufacturing techniques showed to be a convenient method to produce complex shaped impeller prototypes before manufacturing the more expensive stainless steel assembly…
El ferrocarril minero de Ojos-Negros a Sagunt. Arqueología industrial y patrimonio ferroviario
1995
Phases transitions in complexe oxides with perovskite structure : case system (1-x)Na0,5Bi0,5TiO3 - xCaTiO3
2015
The solid solutions (1-x)Na0,5Bi0,5TiO3 (NBT) – xCaTiO3 (CT) were studied by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, impedance spectroscopy and DSC. These materials have a perovskite crystalline structure. This study reveals not only the complexity but also the richness of physical phenomena in these compounds: phases transitions sequences, the Ca2+ effect on the physical-chemistry properties and the relation between dielectric properties and crystalline structure. Thereby, (1-x)NBT – xCT solid solutions (0 ≤ x ≤ 1.00) were synthesized by chemical solid route, then they were sintered by a particular procedure in order to avoid sodium and bismuth volatilization. …
Managing Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Airport Inventories: An Overview
2011
For some years now, problems relating to gas emissions that affect climate and result from human activities have assumed a global dimension of large importance. The climate is, indeed, influenced by the concentrations of some pollutants in the atmosphere; these pollutants trap the long wave radiation emitted by the Earth and alter the energy balance, causing an accentuation of the natural greenhouse effect. In this view an inventory of greenhouse gases can become the benchmark against which to measure the achievement of quantitative targets set at the political level in the fight against climate change. Contrary to a general inventory of emissions related with air quality objectives and loc…
Improving the rheometry of rubberized bitumen: experimental and computation fluid dynamics studies
2017
Abstract Multi-phase materials are common in several fields of engineering and rheological measurements are intensively adopted for their development and quality control. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of these materials, accurate measurements can be challenging. This is the case of bitumen-rubber blends used in civil engineering as binders for several applications such as asphalt concrete for road pavements but recently also for roofing membranes. These materials can be considered as heterogeneous blends of fluid and particles with different densities. Due to this nature the two components tends to separate and this phenomenon can be enhanced with inappropriate design and mixing. Thi…
Current-induced domain wall motion in nanoscale ferromagnetic elements
2011
The manipulation of a magnetic domain wall (DW) by a spin polarized current in ferromagnetic nanowires has attracted tremendous interest during the last years due to fundamental questions in the fields of spin dependent transport phenomena and magnetization dynamics but also due to promising applications, such as DW based magnetic memory concepts and logic devices. We comprehensively review recent developments in the field of geometrically confined domain walls and in particular current induced DW dynamics. We focus on the influence of the magnetic and electronic transport properties of the materials on the spin transfer effect in DWs. After considering the different DW structures in ferrom…
Iron bioavailability in iron-fortified cereal foods: The contribution of in vitro studies
2015
Iron deficiency anemia is the most common nutritional deficiency in humans. Not all dietary ingested iron, heme or nonheme, will be available to absorption and negative imbalance between iron requirements and absorption leads to iron deficiency and/or anemia. The recommended iron values usually are based on the genetic and on diet iron-bioavailability, which can be considered as the principal factor that change among the cultures and influences the distinct levels of recommendation among countries. Dietary changes present practical limitations due to be difficult to change food habits. The iron food fortification is considered more cost effective and economically more attractive than iron s…
Risonanza Magnetica (RM) renale per la valutazione quantitativa del sovraccarico di ferro con sequenze T2*: valori normali per età e sesso.
2016
The objective of this study is to examine the reliability and reproducibility of multi-echo gadient-echo (ME-GRE) T2 sequences for the measurement of global and regional renal T2 values, establish normal cut-offs in healthy patients and evaluate the correlation of values obtained with age and sex.
