New complexes of formulae [Cu(HL 2 )(H 2 O)(NO 3 )](NO 3 ) ( 1 ), [{Cu(L 1 )(tfa)} 2 ] ( 2 ), [{Cu(L 1 )} 2 (pz)](ClO 4 ) 2 ( 3 ) and {[{Cu(L 1 )} 2 (dca)](ClO 4 )} n ( 4 ), where HL 1 = pyridine-2-carbaldehyde thiosemicarbazone, HL 2 = pyridine-2-carbaldehyde 4 N -methylthiosemicarbazone, Htfa = trifluoroacetic acid (CF 3 COOH), pz = pyrazine (C 4 H 4 N 2 ) and dca = dicyanamide [N(CN) 2 ] − , have been synthesized and characterized. Potential Application of Voltammetry of Microparticles for Dating Porcine Blood-based Binding Media used in Taiwanese Architectural Polychromies

A method for dating Hemoglobine-containing archaeological samples using the voltammetry of microparticles is described. This is based on the record of the voltammetric response of such materials attached to paraffin-impregnated graphite electrodes in contact with aqueous acetate buffer. Signals attributable to the Fe(III)/Fe(II) iron couple and their catalytic enhancement in the presence of H(2)O(2) can be correlated, via first-order reaction kinetics, with the time of aging of the samples. The method has been applied to the study and dating of the polychromed architectural decoration of different parts of the architectural complex of the Longshan Temple in Lukang (18(th) century, Taiwan).

Tire Rubber Modified Binders (TR-MBs), produced through wet process and used worldwide (e.g. asphalt rubber), have been demonstrated to provide various benefits to pavements and, moreover, represent a good opportunity for recycling tire rubber. However, this technology is still struggling to be fully adopted in Europe, mainly because of the poor stability of TR-MBs during high temperature storage, which leads to high initial costs in modifying existing asphalt plants. Abstract Calculation of passenger car equivalents for heavy vehicles represents the starting point for the operational analysis of road facilities and other traffic management applications. This paper introduces a criterion to find the passenger car equivalents that reflect traffic conditions at double-lane roundabouts, where the capacity is typically estimated for each entry lane. Based on the equivalence defined by the proportion of capacity used by vehicles of different classes, the criterion implies a comparison between the capacity that would occur with a traffic demand of passenger cars only and the capacity reached beginning from a demand with a certain percentage of heavy vehicles. …
