Metamagnetic Behavior in [M (tvp) (NCS)2] Coordination Polymers (M = Fe(II) and Co(II); tvp = 1,2-di-(4-pyridyl)-ethylene)

1999

Abstract We report the synthesis and magnetic properties of two new coordination polymers of formula [M(tvp)(NCS)2] (M = Fe(II) and Co(II)). The magnetic data reveal the occurrence of metamagnetic behavior. Switching from bulk antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic behavior occurs for magnetic fields greater than 1300 G (Fe(II)) and 450 G (Co(II)) at temperatures lower than 4 K. Both compounds are isomorphous. A molecular structure is suggested in the light of the magnetic properties and precedent data on related systems.

The 2-oxoglutarate binding site of prolyl 4-hydroxylase. Identification of distinct subsites and evidence for 2-oxoglutarate decarboxylation in a lig…

1984

The structure and function of the 2-oxoglutarate binding site of prolyl 4-hydroxylase was studied by assaying the inhibitory potential of 24 selected aliphatic or aromatic compounds. All except one of them inhibited the enzyme competitively with respect to 2-oxoglutarate and noncompetitively with respect to Fe2+, the Ki values ranging from 0.8 microM to over 15 mM. The Ki values for the two most effective inhibitors, pyridine 2,5-dicarboxylate and 2,4-dicarboxylate, were about 0.8 microM and 2 microM, these compounds being the most potent inhibitors of prolyl 4-hydroxylase with respect to 2-oxoglutarate known so far. Only one of the compounds tested, 2-oxoadipinate, was able to support hydr…

Hybrid Organic/Inorganic Molecular Materials Formed by Tetrathiafulvalene Radicals and Magnetic Trimeric Clusters of Dimetallic Oxalate‐Bridged Compl…

2003

The first examples of trimeric, dimetallic, pure oxalate-bridged complexes [ox = (C2O4)2−] have been synthesized and characterized structurally and magnetically for the two new series of crystalline molecular assemblies formulated as (TTF)4{MII(H2O)2[MIII(ox)3]2}·nH2O [for MIII = Cr; MII = Mn (1), Fe (2), Co (3), Ni (4), Cu (5) and Zn (6); for MIII = Fe; MII = Mn (7), Fe (8), Co (9), Ni (10) and Zn (11)]. Both series (Cr2M and Fe2M) are isostructural. The crystal structure of (TTF)4{Mn(H2O)2[Cr(ox)3]2}⋅14H2O (1) [monoclinic, space group C2/c (no. 15), a = 13.240(5) A, b = 19.450(5) A, c = 27.690(5) A, β = 97.63(5)°, V = 7068(3) A3 and Z = 4] shows alternating layers of the organic radical T…

New dinuclear copper complexes incorporating bis(imidazolyl) based ligands and bidentate–monodentate oxalate bridges. Crystal structure and magnetic …

2016

Abstract This paper reports the synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and magnetic characterization of two novel copper(II) dinuclear compounds including bis(imidazolyl) ligands and oxalate anions, [Cu2(BIM)2(C2O4)2]·4H2O (1) (BIM = bis(2-imidazolyl)methane) and [Cu2(BIK)2(C2O4)2] (2) (BIK = bis(2-imidazolyl)ketone). The oxalate anion acts as bidentate–monodentate in both cases, although it exhibits different coordination bridging modes: whereas in compound 1 a μ1,1,2-oxalato is observed, a μ1,2,3-oxalato is found in compound 2. In both cases, the 3D framework is held together by a combination of H-bonding and aromatic-aromatic interactions provided by the convenient structural features of BIM…

Malonate-based copper(II) coordination compounds: Ferromagnetic coupling controlled by dicarboxylates

2003

Studies on structural and magnetic properties of polynuclear transition metal complexes, aimed at understanding the structural and chemical factors governing electronic exchange coupling mediated by multiatom bridging ligands, are of continuing interest to design new molecular materials exhibiting unusual magnetic, optical and electrical properties, bound to their molecular nature. Looking at potentially flexible bridging ligands, the malonate group seems a suitable candidate. The occurrence of two carboxylate groups in the 1,3 positions allows this ligand to adopt simultaneously chelating bidentate and different carboxylato bridging modes (syn–syn, anti–anti and syn–anti trough one or two …

1‑Phenyl-3-(pyrid-2-yl)benzo[e][1,2,4]triazinyl: The First "Blatter Radical" for Coordination Chemistry

2014

A neutral air- and moisture-stable N,N′-chelating radical ligand, 1-phenyl-3-(pyrid-2-yl)benzo[e][1,2,4]triazinyl (1) was synthesized and characterized by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and magnetic measurements. Subsequent reaction of 1 with Cu(hfac)2·2H2O (hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate) under ambient conditions afforded the coordination complex Cu(1)(hfac)2 in which the radical binds to the metal in a bidentate fashion. Magnetic susceptibility data collected from 1.8 to 300 K indicate a strong ferromagnetic metal-radical interaction in the complex and weak antiferromagnetic radical···radical interactions between the Cu(1)(hfac)2 units. Detailed com…

A new method for the study of antiparallel ferroelectric domains

1992

Abstract Beam-coupling topography is a non-destructive holographic technique for spatially resolved recording of hysteresis loops and for imaging of domains. Its basic principle is interference of rays diffracted from a holographic grating with collinear, transmitted ones. Full domain contrast and noise suppression is achieved by appropriate control of intensity and phase of the interfering beams. The method is applied to antiparallel a-domains in (Sr0.61Ba0.39)Nb2O6:Ce.

Neutron-scattering studies on CeM2Ge2(M=Ag, Au, and Ru)

1992

The results of elastic, quasielastic, and inelastic neutron-scattering studies on polycrystalline CeM 2 Ge 2 (M=Ag, Au, and Ru) are presented. All compounds reveal long-range magnetic order at low temperatures. Ferromagnetic (M=Ru), antiferromagnetic (M=Au), and incommensurate (M=Ag) structures were detected. Using time-of-flight (TOF) techniques, the crystalline electric-field splittings were determined. With high-resolution TOF experiments the temperature and wave-vector dependence of the magnetic relaxation rate was studied

The use of metallocenic esters of n-hydroxysuccinimide for metallohapten synthesis

1991

Different organometallic markers have been described in a new technique for the labelling of many drugs. Thus metallocenic esters of [M = (;CO)3CrC6H5; (;CO)3CrC6H5(;CH2)3; η-C5H5FeC5H4; (;CO)3MnηC5H4; (;CO)3MnηC5H4COCH2CH2; ηC5H4(;ηC5H5)Co+PF−6] react with primary or secondary amine drugs [DRUGNHR] for a psychostimulant drug: amphetamine; tricyclic antidepressants—desipramine and nortriptyline; a vasodilator—histamine; an adrenergic substance—norfenefrine; and for a central stimulant—meth-amphetamine, to give the metallohaptens MCON(;R)—DRUG. All these compounds have been fully characterized by different analytical methods and have potentialities for biological assays. This synthetic route…
