In vivo triceps surae and quadriceps femoris muscle function in a squat jump and counter movement jump

An optic fibre method was used to measure in humans in vivo Achilles (ATF) and patellar tendon forces (PTF) during submaximal squat jumps (SJ) and counter movement jumps (CMJ). Normal two-legged jumps on a force plate and one-legged jumps on a sledge apparatus were made by four volunteers. Kinetics, kinematics, and muscle activity from seven muscles were recorded. The loading patterns of the tendomuscular system differed among the jumping conditions, but were similar when the jumping height was varied. Peak PTF were greater than ATF in each condition. L'enjeu majeur de durcissement de ces composants est abordé via des techniques telles que le chargement en hydrogène et/ou le co-dopage au Cérium du cœur des fibres optiques. L'identification des centres responsables de l'atténuation induite par irradiation et la compréhension des mécanismes de dégradation mis en jeu sont des étapes indispensables au développement de ces fibres.

A methodology for the control of the residual lifetimes of carbon fibre reinforced composite pressure vessels

International audience; Pressure vessels must be periodically proof tested. Traditional techniques for metal vessels are inapplicable for composite vessels as the latter do not break by crack propagation so that the reasoning behind the traditional testing procedures is not appropriate. Damage accumulation leading to the degradation of a composite vessel is by fibre failure. Fibres show a wide distribution in strengths and loading a composite inevitably breaks some. Dimensionnement de structures composites par une méthode FE2 simplifiée. Application au calcul de réservoirs composites

National audience; On propose dans cette étude la modélisation des phénomènes physiques à l'origine et induits par celui de rupture de fibre au sein d'un composite unidirectionnel. Cette modélisation, faite à l'échelle microscopique, permet de construire une base de données qui va décrire cette échelle au sein d'un procédé multiéchelles FE2 simplifié. The subject of the study is analyzing the impact of coconut fibre and salt mixture used for eliminating slipperiness on roads on roadside soil. The tests were done on the soil samples taken from the fixed areas twice: in the autumn before applying the composite and in the following spring. Laboratory tests indicated decrease of conduciveness in soil after using the composite in wintertime. This can cause decreasing saltiness of roadside soil. In contrast to commonly used methods of eliminating slipperiness on roads with salts only applying the composite could diminish the negative effects of roadside soil saltiness.

Fibre fragment distribution in a single-fibre composite tension test

Abstract Single fibre fragmentation tests are performed for brittle fibres with Weibull strength distribution and different surface treatments. The fragmentation process is modelled and closed-form expressions for break spacing distribution are obtained. The model accounts for the effect of finite fibre length on the initial fragmentation as well as for break interaction on the advanced fragmentation stage.
