The 2008 Ecuadorian Constitution is often presented as building on the local traditions of indigenous peoples in order to propose a non-anthropocentric approach to the conservation of the environment, based on the concept of buen vivir. Le testimonianze storiografiche relative al rapporto di Caracalla con i filosofi riflettono il giudizio più in generale negativo sull’imperatore. Centrale è la testimonianza di Cassio Dione sull’ostilità nei confronti dei filosofi aristotelici e sull’abolizione dei syssitia alessandrini, da inserire nel contesto del clima successivo all’assassinio di Geta e dell’eliminazione dei rivali politici. Dalla documentazione letteraria ed epigrafica emerge inoltre un interesse dell’imperatore per la filosofia teurgica (con particolare attenzione alla figura di Apollonio di Tiana), che le fonti letterarie intendono, talvolta deformando l’evidenza, come propen- sione verso la magia.
