Purpose To study the prevalence and risk factors of myopia with data from a questionnaire study conducted in 1983 among Finnish school children. Methods School children (n = 4 961) from the 1st, 5th and 8th grades of school (7-, 11- and 15-year-olds) in Central Finland were screened for vision followed by a questionnaire, which was returned by 4 352 (87.7%) participants. Myopia was categorized based on the questionnaire. Items concerned daily time spent on near work and outdoor activities, excluding time spent at school, watching TV and parental myopia and the associations of myopia with these factors were studied. Internationalization at home (IaH) policies in higher education institutions (HEIs) are rarely negotiated with and by students. Therefore, students’ takes on such policies could be missed opportunities for HEIs. This qualitative study investigates international and local students’ negotiations and meaning-making of integration and IaH as stated by institutional policies. Tarkastelemme kirjoituksessamme ulkomaalaisia tutkinto-opiskelijoita, jotka valmistuivat Suomen ammattikorkeakouluista tai yliopistoista vuosien 1999 ja 2011 välisenä aikana. Pyrimme kuvailemaan Tilastokeskuksen rekisteritietojen avulla, kuinka moni valmistuneista on edelleen Suomessa kolme vuotta valmistumisen jälkeen ja mitkä taustatekijät ovat yhteydessä päätökseen jäädä maahan. This paper considers an unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) communication network, where UAV operate as an aerial mobile relay between a source and a destination of the network. This study investigated the role of Rotating savings and credit association ''ROSCA'' in allowing unbanked consumers to control and manage their routine financial matters and assessed the consequences of the Committee (i.e.ROSCA) system for unbanked consumers in the Pakistani context. Qualitative data were gathered from low-income unbanked consumers through semi-structured interviews. The study finds that the institutional culture and rules of Committees offer unbanked participants control over their everyday financial affairs and generally provide the unbanked an opportunity to address their vulnerability. PurposeThis article deals with the negative emotional consequences of active labour market policies (ALMPs) for long-term unemployed young adults in Finland. Although such policies may have positive effects, an exploration of their negative impacts reveals their problematic side effects.
