The prognostic value of sentinel lymph node micrometastases in invasive breast cancer patients is still widely debated. Even if, in the absence of unequivocal guidelines, the axillary lynphadenectomy is not still performed in the routine clinical care of these patients.We have retrospectively analyzed 746 patients with operable invasive breast cancer and clinically negative axillary lymph nodes. To examine practice patterns of endosonographers in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) in Germany.A modified published survey (Ha et al., Gastrointest Endosc 2009) was sent to endosonographic ultrasound (EUS) customers in Germany. RET (REarranged during Transfection) proto-oncogene variants are essential for the development of familial and sporadic forms of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). The most frequent variants are usually located in exons 10, 11, and 13 through 16 of the RET gene. We report two cases of apparently sporadic MTC associated with the variant in exon 2 of RET gene.
