Keskustelukumppanin kehuminen suomalaisessa keskustelussa

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan suomalaisen arkikeskustelun kehuja kolmen peruskysymyksen kautta: 1) millaisia kehut ovat rakenteeltaan, 2) miten kehut otetaan vastaan ja 3) millaisissa tilanteissa kehuja esitetaan ja mita niilla tehdaan? Extracts deriving from olive mill waste water and their effects on the liver of the goldfish Carassius auratus fed with hypercholesterolemic diet

The present research aims to evaluate the beneficial effects of polyphenols derived from waste water from a olive mill, obtained by non-plastic molecular imprinting device, in a hypercholesterolemic diet on Carassius auratus, commonly known as goldfish that was selected as experimental model. The study was conducted with morphological and histochemical analyses and also the data were supported by immunohistochemical analysis. Evolutionary and transcriptional analyses of a pentraxin-like component family involved in the LPS inflammatory response of Ciona robusta

Pentraxins (PTXs) are a superfamily of conserved proteins which are components of the humoral arm of innate immunity. They are considered to be functional ancestors of antibodies and are classified into short and long types. In this study, we show that a pentraxin-like component (Ptx-like) with a C-terminal PTX domain, highly homologous to the short PTX of H. sapiens CRP, and a long N-terminal domain typical of long PTXs, is involved in the inflammatory response of Ciona robusta under LPS exposure in vivo. Alkaline Phosphatase: Keeping the Peace at the Gut Epithelial Surface

Vertebrates harbor abundant lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or endotoxin in their gut microbiota. Here we demonstrate that the brush border enzyme intestinal alkaline phosphatase (Iap), which dephosphorylates LPS, is induced during establishment of the microbiota and plays a crucial role in promoting mucosal tolerance to gut bacteria in zebrafish. We demonstrate that Iap deficient animals are hypersensitive to LPS toxicity through a mechanism mediated by Myd88 and Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor (Tnfr). We further show that the endogenous microbiota establish the normal homeostatic level of neutrophils in the intestine through a process involving Myd88 and Tnfr. The following protocol is intended to respond to the requirements set by the European Union’s Marine Strategy Framework Directives (MSFD) for the D10C3 Criteria reported in the Commission Decision (EU), related to the amount of litter ingested by marine animals. Standardized methodologies for extracting litter items ingested from dead sea turtles along with guidelines on data analysis are provided. ABSTRACT Contrasting data exist on the effect of gender and menopause on the susceptibility, development and liver damage progression in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Liver stiffness measurement in patients with nodular regenerative hyperplasia undergoing magnetic resonance elastography

Purpose Nodular regenerative hyperplasia (NRH) may mimic cirrhosis at imaging. We aim to investigate the effect of NRH on liver stiffness measurement (LSM) obtained with magnetic resonance elastography (MRE).Methods This retrospective, Institutional Review Board-approved study included 37 subjects with NRH (Group 1) and no or minimal fibrosis (F0-F1), a control group (Group 2) made of 30 subjects with non-advanced fibrosis (F0-F2), and a control group (Group 3) made of 30 subjects with advanced fibrosis (F3-F4), all with available MRE. An efferent connection of lobus caudalis cells of the cerebellum of the electric fish Eigenmannia sp. has been verified by means of electrical stimulation and recording techniques. Stimulating in the lobus caudalis, an orthodromic activation has been found in the reticular formation of the midbrain tegmentum. Switching recording and stimulating electrodes led to an antidromic activation in cells of the lobus caudalis. The area identified in the midbrain corresponds to what, in higher vertebrates, is called the red nucleus.
