ZBL MS 63/6 Satco, Bianca-Renata; Turcu, Corneliu-Octavian Henstock-Kurzweil-Pettis integral and weak topologies in nonlinear integral equations on t…

2013

The authors prove an existence result for a nonlinear integral equation on time scales under weak topology assumption in the target Banach space. In the setting of vector valued functions on time scales they consider the Henstock-Kurzweil-Pettis $\Delta$-integral which is a kind of Henstock integral recently introduced by Cichon, M. [Commun. Math. Anal. 11 (2011), no. 1, 94110]. In this framework they show the existence of weakly continuous solutions for an integral equation x(t)= f(t, x(t))+ (HKP)\int_0^t g(t,s,x(s)) \Delta s governed by the sum of two operators: a continuous operator and an integral one. The main tool to get the solutions is a generalization of Krasnosel'skii fixed point…

Self-stabilizing processes: uniqueness problem for stationary measures and convergence rate in the small-noise limit

2011

In the context of self-stabilizing processes, that is processes attracted by their own law, living in a potential landscape, we investigate different properties of the invariant measures. The interaction between the process and its law leads to nonlinear stochastic differential equations. In [S. Herrmann and J. Tugaut. Electron. J. Probab. 15 (2010) 2087–2116], the authors proved that, for linear interaction and under suitable conditions, there exists a unique symmetric limit measure associated to the set of invariant measures in the small-noise limit. The aim of this study is essentially to point out that this statement leads to the existence, as the noise intensity is small, of one unique…

The MLE of the mean of the exponential distribution based on grouped data is stochastically increasing

2016

This paper refers to the problem stated by Balakrishnan et al. (2002). They proved that maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of the exponential mean obtained from grouped samples is stochastically ordered provided that the sequence of the successive distances between inspection times is decreasing. In this paper we show that the assumption of monotonicity of the sequence of distances can be dropped.

The existence of solutions for the modified (p(x), q(x))-Kirchhoff equation

2022

We consider the Dirichlet problem-Delta(Kp)(p(x))u(x) - Delta(Kq)(q(x))u(x) = f(x, u(x), del u(x)) in Omega, u vertical bar(partial derivative Omega) = 0,driven by the sum of a p(x)-Laplacian operator and of a q(x)-Laplacian operator, both of them weighted by indefinite (sign-changing) Kirchhoff type terms. We establish the existence of weak solution and strong generalized solution, using topological tools (properties of Galerkin basis and of Nemitsky map). In the particular case of a positive Kirchhoff term, we obtain the existence of weak solution (= strong generalized solution), using the properties of pseudomonotone operators.
