Comparison of magnetic resonance imaging of inhaled SF6 with respiratory gas analysis
2008
Magnetic resonance imaging of inhaled fluorinated inert gases ((19)F-MRI) such as sulfur hexafluoride (SF(6)) allows for analysis of ventilated air spaces. In this study, the possibility of using this technique to image lung function was assessed. For this, (19)F-MRI of inhaled SF(6) was compared with respiratory gas analysis, which is a global but reliable measure of alveolar gas fraction. Five anesthetized pigs underwent multiple-breath wash-in procedures with a gas mixture of 70% SF(6) and 30% oxygen. Two-dimensional (19)F-MRI and end-expiratory gas fraction analysis were performed after 4 to 24 inhaled breaths. Signal intensity of (19)F-MRI and end-expiratory SF(6) fraction were evaluat…
Syntheses and reactivity of oxo niobocene complexes Cp*2Nb(O)X (X=H, OCH3) and crystal structures of [Cp*2Nb(OH)F]BF4 and Cp*2Nb(O)OC(O)H (Cp*=η5-C…
1998
Abstract Reaction of Cp*2NbCl2 (Cp*=η5-C5Me5) with KOH or Ba(OH)2·8H2O in THF forms the complexes Cp*2Nb(O)X (X=Cl: 2, H: 3). The ratio of 2 and 3 depends on the stoichiometry. If NaOMe is added or MeOH in solution Cp*2Nb(O)OMe 4 is formed in good yields. Reactivity studies with 3 and 4 show that the NbO as well as the Nb–X unit behave as chemically active sites. Protonation of 3 or 4 with HBF4 is followed by an attack of fluoride (from BF4− anion) to give [Cp*2Nb(OH)F]BF4 6 and [Cp*2NbF2]BF4 7. In contrast the reaction of 3 or 4 with HCO2H results in an exchange of X− by formate to give Cp*2Nb(O)OC(O)H 8. The crystal structures of 6 and 8 are reported. Electrochemical investigations of…
PHOSPHORORGANISCHE VERBINDUNGEN 991VERSUCHE ZUR AUFKLÄRUNG DER O-SELEKTIVITÄT VON VERBINDUNGEN MIT DER P(O)F-GRUPPE
1982
Abstract The mechanism of the reaction of phosphoryl fluoride ( P(O)F) with alcohols in the presence of an amine is fundamentally different from the reaction of phosphoryl chlorides ( P(O)Cl) with primary or secondary amines. The following observations strongly support this proposal: 1. 1H-NMR-, 31P-NMR- and 19F-NMR-spectroscopic investigations show that methyl-phenyl-phosphinicacid-fluoride and n-butylamine form a thermolabile adduct, which yields the methyl-phenyl-phosphinicacid-amide only very slowly. 2. The rate of the reaction of methyl-phenyl-phosphinicacid-fluoride with ethanol is independent of the basicity of the amine but very sensitive to steric factors. Imidazole (which is only …
Impact of public preventive programmes on oral quality of life of 11 to 12-yr-old school students
2007
Objectives: The objective was to analyze the impact of preventive programmes on oral quality of life in school students aged 11-12 yrs. Study design: In the school year 1996/97, a quasi-experimental study was initiated in Granada province with four groups of students aged 6-7 yrs: Sealant + Fluoride (sealants on first permanent molars applied in the health centre for a 3-yr active programme, and fluoride varnish applied every four months for 3 yrs, n=65), Sealant (only sealants, n=80), Fluoride (only fluoride varnish, n=107) and Control group (n=59). All students were examined every 6 months at school during the 3-yr active programme and received an oral health report after each examination…
