It is well known that a changing climate leads to changes in the frequency, intensity, spatial extent, duration, and timing of extreme weather and climate events. Models indicate substantial warming in temperature extremes by the end of the 21st century (IPCC, 2012). Abstract Detailed geophysical and geoarchaeological investigations carried out in Ostia, ancient harbour of Rome, revealed two different generations of harbour basins and also proved the repeated impact of high-energy wave events on the study area. West of Ostia, at the southern bank of the Tiber, a lagoonal harbour existed from the 4th and 2nd cent. BC but was affected by strong siltation. At the same site, a river harbour was subsequently established from the 1st cent. AD onwards. Fluvial deposits of medieval age finally document Tiber river bank erosion affecting the abandoned site. Strontium isotopes (⁸⁷Sr/⁸⁶Sr) are used as geochemical tracers for paleomobility studies because they display predictable and stable patterns in ecosystems primarily controlled by the underlying geological regimes. While bedrock geology is stable over thousands of years, geomorphological processes can influence the ⁸⁷Sr/⁸⁶Sr in ecosystems over archeologically relevant timescales. Among these geomorphological processes, the deposition and reworking of volcanic sediments over Quaternary timescales are little studied but could be an important control of ⁸⁷Sr/⁸⁶Sr variations in many archeological regions. Des prospections subaquatiques menees dans la Charente, sur le site de Taillebourg – Port d’Envaux (17), ont revele la presence de nombreux temoins d’activites lies au fleuve Charente, dates principalement des periodes merovingienne et carolingienne. Parmi l’abondant mobilier decouvert figure un lot d’objets en plomb.Ces plombs ont ete trouves dans un contexte de pratiques halieutiques. Les premieres interpretations les definissent comme des lests d’engins de peche. La decouverte d’un tel corpus est deja en soi un fait interessant.
