Monitoring the flux transfer of mass and energy occurring within the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum is a pivotal key for understanding hydrological and vegetation relationships. Average daily values of the Priestley - Taylor (PT) parameter were calculated for 4 eddy covariance (EC) flux tower sites from FLUXNET network, characterized by different vegetation features, over the 2010-12 reference period. Results from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory have recently provided compelling evidence for the existence of a high energy astrophysical neutrino flux utilizing a dominantly Southern Hemisphere dataset consisting primarily of nu_e and nu_tau charged current and neutral current (cascade) neutrino interactions. In the analysis presented here, a data sample of approximately 35,000 muon neutrinos from the Northern sky was extracted from data taken during 659.5 days of livetime recorded between May 2010 and May 2012. Current knowledge on the seasonality of benthic nitrate reduction pathways in the aphotic, density stratified coastal zone of the Baltic Sea is largely based on data from muddy sediments, neglecting the potential contribution of sandy sediments. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of seasonality in this part of the Baltic Sea coast, we measured rates of benthic denitrification, anammox and dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (DNRA) monthly in the ice-free period of 2016 in both sandy and muddy aphotic sediments, northwestern Gulf of Finland. The study was carried out in the Natural Reserve of Trapani and Paceco saltworks shallow system (western Sicily: 37° 52’ North; 12° 28’East).The main goal is to deepen our understanding of whether the alteration of the complexity of these particular ecosystems is manifested through a consequent reduction of the number of migrant species and their density. To achieve this, we focalized our attention on organic matter fluxes (in terms of origin and availability for apex consumers), and on the density and distribution of aquatic birds.

The production and consumption of N2O in soils mainly involve biotic processes: the anaerobic process of denitrification and the aerobic process of nitrification. The factors that significantly influence agricultural N2O emissions mainly concern the agricultural practices (N application rate, crop type, fertilizer type) and soil conditions (soil moisture, soil organic C content, soil pH and texture).
