Design: an exploratory qualitative research using focus groups and thematic analysis of the discussion. Electrical stimulation of the cerebellar cortex by implanted electrodes has been shown to ameliorate refractory epilepsy. We investigated the potential therapeutic role of high-frequency cerebellar rTMS in patients affected by refractory epilepsy due to single or multiple foci. Six patients, three with single and three with multiple epileptic foci, underwent 20 rTMS sessions. Object switching within working memory is reflected in the human event-related brain potential

In two experiments applying a memory updating task subjects are asked to perform several arithmetic operations on stored numbers. From a trial-to-trial perspective these operations could be either performed on a previously processed item or on a new item which requires an object switch in working memory. Object switching results in prolonged operation times; these operation time costs reflect the switch of the focus of attention to the relevant information. Event-related brain potentials obtained in object switch trials show an increased P3a around 300 ms and a late, central negative component between 400 ms and 500 ms. The effects of aberrations on image quality and the objectively assessed depth of focus (DoF) were studied. Aberrometry data from 80 young subjects with a range of refractive errors was used for computing the visual Strehl ratio based on the optical transfer function (VSOTF), and then, through-focus simulations were performed in order to calculate the objective DoF (using two different relative thresholds of 50% and 80%; and two different pupil diameters) and the image quality (the peak VSOTF). AbstractThe purpose of this work was to find plausible predictors among optical parameters that may explain the inter-individual differences in subjective amplitude of accommodation not explained by age. An exploratory multivariable regression analysis was carried out retrospectively on a dataset with 180 eyes from 97 subjects (ages ranged from 20 to 58years). Subjective amplitudes of accommodation were recorded with the use of a custom-made Badal system.
