Three focus groups were held in Valencia (Spain) and conducted with participants who undertook, at least once a week, one short non-shopping trip in any travel mode (were "short trip" is defined as less than 3045 min walking distance). A thematic analysis of the data was performed and six categories of factors emerged related to the built environment. 0450 Preventing and promoting musculoskeletal health at the workplace through the design and evaluation of an innovative multicomponent intervention:…

2017

Objectives Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) are main cause of work absence, reducing sustainability of working trajectories. The objective of INTEVAL_Spain project is to assess the effectiveness of a multifactorial intervention at the workplace to prevent MSD. Methods The intervention comprises evidence-based primary (participatory ergonomics-PE), secondary and tertiary prevention (case management-CM), and health promotion targeted to MSD. All components are integrated and require full coordination. A cluster randomized trial with a late intervention control group is being implemented to evaluate its effectiveness. Quantitative and qualitative information is being obtained from databases of …

Exploring citizens' legitimacy judgments about governmental refugee policies

2017

Tulokset osoittavat luottamusta hallituksen toimia kohtaan pakolaiskriisissä. Tämän tutkimuksen perusteella Suomen hallitukselle myönnetään legitimiteetti sen pohjalta, miten hallit…

Agility activities for children in a municipality in Norway.

2015

The aim of this study was to investigate whether agility activity with dogs can be used to motivate less active children in physical activity and how such activity is experienced by parents and handlers. Data were collected through qualitative interviews with handlers and parents of the participating children. Agility with dogs appeared to motivate less active children to participate in, and endure, demanding physical activity. Joy and bonding with the dog appeared to be key elements in the motivational process. Motivation, initiation, and sustainment of activity over time are beneficial for children.

The study also explored what kind of methods the therapists use with the target group, and the applicability of a previously pub-lished conceptual model. Method: We conducted a deductive-inductive content analysis of transcripts from four focus group interviews among 13 professional music therapists. Results: The ther…

More than experience? On the unique opportunities of virtual reality to afford a holistic experiential learning cycle

2021

Virtual reality has been proposed as a promising technology for higher education since the combination of immersive and interactive features enables experiential learning. However, previous studies did not distinguish between the different learning modes of the four-stage experiential learning cycle (i.e., concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation). With our study, we contribute a deeper understanding of how the unique opportunities of virtual reality can afford each of the four experiential learning modes. We conducted three design thinking workshops with interdisciplinary teams of students and lecturers. These workshops resulted in…

The Good Parent: Southern Italian Mothers’ Conceptualization of Good Parenting and Parent–Child Relationships

2019

Thirty mothers, ranging in age between 30 and 46 years, participated in seven focus groups aimed at analyzing perceptions and ideas of the characteristics of a good parent and parent–child relationship in southern Italy (Sicily). In defining good parenting beliefs and practices, Sicilian mothers mostly believed that control, discipline, and demandingness were imperative and prioritized over warmth and responsiveness. Despite the importance given to demandingness…

2021

Fig (Ficus carica L.) is a nutritious fruit, rich in fiber, potassium, calcium, and iron. In addition to Asian countries, fig is cultivated in the Mediterranean basin, where quality fruit has been produced since ancient times. Sicily in southern Italy traditionally cultivated ‘San Giovanni’ figs, but fig consumption has decreased. This cultivar is very interesting for its intrinsic qualities and its appreciation after storage by consumers could help its commercialization. The objective of this study is to know consumer preferences for quality attributes of ‘San Giovanni…
