Administration of recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEpo) improves performance and hence is subject to abuse by athletes. The detection of rHuEpo doping remains a major challenge at present. The aim of the current study was to investigate whether circulating microRNA (miRNA) can be used for detecting r-HuEpo doping. Twenty trained males received rHuEpo injections of 50 IU∙kg -1 body mass every two days for 4 weeks. Blood was obtained 2 weeks before, during and 4 weeks after administration. Abstract Beauvericin (BEA) and enniatin B (EN B) are non-legislated Fusarium mycotoxins usually found in cereal and cereal-based products all around the world. By the proteomic analysis of mitochondria enriched extracts from Jurkat cells exposed for 24 h to three concentrations of BEA:EN B (0.01–0.1–0.5 μM), a number of 1821 proteins (202 mitochondrial) were identified and relatively quantified. 340 proteins (59 mitochondrial) were statistically significant altered in our samples (Anova p-value ≤ 0.05 and fold change (FC) ≥1.5). Background & Aims Serum microRNA (miRNA) levels are known to change in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and may serve as useful biomarkers. This study aimed to profile miRNAs comprehensively at all NAFLD stages. Methods We profiled 2,083 serum miRNAs in a discovery cohort (183 cases with NAFLD representing the complete NAFLD spectrum and 10 population controls). miRNA libraries generated by HTG EdgeSeq were sequenced by Illumina NextSeq. Aim To unravel the primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) related proteomic changes in aqueous humour (AH). Methods Totally 35 patients listed for cataract surgery (controls: n=12, age: 67.4±13.6y) or trabeculectomy for POAG (n=23, age: 72.5±8.3y) were included. AH samples of those patients were obtained during cataract surgery or trabeculectomy. Programmed death-1 (PD-1) and Programmed death-1 ligand (PD-L1) regulate immune response. Previous studies associate an immune deregulation in ST-elevation myocardial infarction STEMI. We recruited 100 patients with a first STEMI treated with reperfusion. In all patients PD-1 and PD-L1 expression was studied 24 h post-reperfusion in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), by means of flow cytometry and molecular biology.
