Background Hirsutism, defined by the presence of excessive terminal hair in androgen-sensitive areas of the female body, is one of the most common disorders in women during reproductive age. Methods We conducted a systematic review and critical assessment of the available evidence pertaining to the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of hirsutism. Therophilus javanus is a koinobiont, solitary larval endoparasitoid currently being considered as a biological control agent against the pod borer Maruca vitrata, a devastating cowpea pest causing 20–80% crop losses in West Africa. We investigated ovary morphology and anatomy, oogenesis, potential fecundity, and egg load in T. javanus, as well as the effect of factors such as age of the female and parasitoid/host size at oviposition on egg load. The number of ovarioles was found to be variable and significantly influenced by the age/size of the M. vitrata caterpillar when parasitized. Ievads: Dermatoloģijā ādas mikrobioms ir aprakstīts, ieskaitot atšķirības baktēriju izplatībā atkarībā no lokalizāciju ādas zonās. Mēs pētījām galvas ādas folikula mikrobiomu, tajā skaitā, vai tas mainās nosirmošanas procesā. Mērķis: Šī darba mērķis bija mata folikula mikrobioma izpēte. Tāpat, pārbaudīt atšķirības mikrobiomos. Precīzāk, ir savstarpēji jāsalīdzina pigmentētu un sirmu matu mikrobioms. Materiāli un metodes: Pētījumu grupa sastāvēja no 5 brīvprātīgajiem, kam bija daļēji sirmi mati. Migration of Melanoblasts into the Developing Murine Hair Follicle Is Accompanied by Transient c-Kit Expression

Disruption of the c-Kit/stem cell factor (SCF) signaling pathway interferes with the survival, migration, and differentiation of melanocytes during generation of the hair follicle pigmentary unit. We examined c-Kit, SCF, and S100 (a marker for precursor melanocytic cells) expression, as well as melanoblast/melanocyte ultrastructure, in perinatal C57BL/6 mouse skin. Long-term effects of oral and transdermal hormone replacement therapy on plasma homocysteine levels.

Objective To compare the long-term effects of oral and transdermal hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on serum homocysteine levels in postmenopausal women. Design An open, prospective, controlled study. Seventy-five healthy postmenopausal women were recruited as eligible for the study. Fifty women seeking HRT were randomized to receive continuous 17beta-estradiol, either by oral (2 mg daily; n = 25) or transdermal (50 microg daily; n = 25) administration, plus 10 mg dydrogesterone daily for 14 days of each 28-day cycle. In the light of the high incidence of cardiovascular side effects with oestrogen therapy in patients with prostatic cancer, other medications altering androgen metabolism are under investigation. The influence of the anti-prolactin bromocriptine (CB154) on plasma kinetics of testosterone and on endogenous hormones was studied and compared with the effect of ethinyl oestradiol in 25 patients with prostatic carcinoma. Bromocriptine significantly suppressed both prolactin and testosterone, inhibited the transfer of androgen from the inner pool into the deep compartment and favoured its degradation.
