Biomechanische Überlegungen über Stoßkräfte und Fußstabilität beim Laufen
1993
The interaction between "man-shoe and surface" is presented as a model to discuss the complexity of human locomotion. Only if the physiological system "man" interacts positively with the physical requirements of shoe and surface quality running will become effective and economical. Especially during the early ground contact phase the hardness of the shoe construction determines the height of the vertical impact load. These adaptations have consequences in the emg amplitudes during the stretch activation phase of the contact. Comparing various jogging shoes with altered construction properties it can be shown that the "hardness" of the shoe material is well adapted by the variation in the em…
The "critical zones" of entrapment of the nerves of the lower limb.
1991
The author has studied, in a group of 40 dissections on cadavers of individuals of different ages, the main “critical zones” of entrapment of some terminal branches of the lumbo-sacral plexus, which include canals (fibrous, osteo-fibrous, fibro-muscular), intervals (intermuscular, fibro-muscular, musculo-ligamentous), rings (fibrous or fibro-muscular) and foramina. They provide the topographical anatomical basis for possible compressive phenomena of the nerves of the lower limb.
Dynamic Gait Parameters in Patients With Nonunion of the Tibia Following Treatment With the Ilizarov Method.
2020
Abstract The purpose of this study was a comprehensive assessment of the dynamic parameters of gait in patients who underwent Ilizarov treatment for nonunion of the tibia. The experimental group consisted of 24 individuals treated with the Ilizarov method for nonunion of the tibia. The control group comprised 31 healthy individuals, matched for BMI, sex, and age. The dynamic gait parameters in patients and in the control group were measured with a Zebris pedobarographic platform. The treatment group and the control group showed statistically significant differences in terms of the following gait parameters: maximum force during braking nonoperated-limb (NOL), time maximum force during braki…
Kinematics and kinetics analysis of midfoot joints of 30 normal subjects during walking
2016
Abstract Introduction There is not enough evidence in form of clinical studies regarding the behavior of the midfoot joints in dynamic situations such us walking or running. The present work aims to study the mechanical behavior of midfoot joints with a multisegmented foot model with special interest in joint moments and their clinical significance. Subjects and methods A computerized 3-dimensional gait study was performed on healthy male adult subjects with a neutral Foot Posture Index (FPI) (from 0 to +5) during walking. Joint angle and external moments were estimated with a multisegment foot model that considers three separate segments (forefoot, rearfoot and hallux) and graphs and value…

“I want to do well for myself as well!” : Constructing coaching careers in elite women’s football
2019
There is a limited understanding of career development of sport coaches, especially from the subjective perspective focused on personal meaning and evaluation of this life project in sport. We drew on career construction theory and narrative methodology to explore football coaches’ career development, adaptability resources, and the meanings they assigned to their journeys. Ten women’s football (soccer) coaches (2 women) aged 23-60 in England took part in narrative interviews which we analysed using thematic narrative analysis. Our analysis indicated that early immersion into the football narrative context most often resulted in low career exploration and a strong commitment to coaching as …
Position specific physical demands in different phases of competitive matches in national level women’s football
2023
The purpose of the present study was twofold: to investigate position-specific physical match demands of national level women’s football; and to examine if demands change during a match (comparison between first and second half and in 15-minute intervals). Seven teams from the Finnish National League participated in the study. Eighty-five players met the inclusion criteria, and a total of 340 individual match observations from 68 individual matches were included for analysis. The Polar Team Pro -player tracking system (with 10 Hz GPS units, including 200 Hz tri-axial accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and HR monitor) was used to assess positional data and HR response of the players. Thi…
Algorytmy i wytyczne postępowania terapeutycznego w ranach trudno gojących się
2020
Niniejsze opracowanie obejmuje podstawowy zbiór zasad i rekomendacji specjalistów z różnych dziedzin medycyny dotyczących postępowania z ranami o różnych etiologiach.
Cyclists' Perception of Maintenance and Operation of Cycling Infrastructure—Results From a Norwegian Survey
2021
Aasvik O and Bjørnskau T (2021) Cyclists’ Perception of Maintenance and Operation of Cycling Infrastructure—Results From a Norwegian Survey. Front. Psychol. 12:696317. doi: 10.3389/fpsyg.2021.696317 The Norwegian authorities want to limit the extent of car use in city areas to existing levels. Such a limitation would help combat climate change, improve health of citizens, and alleviate congestion. This implies that any further increase in transport needs will have to be met by walking, cycling and use of public transport. Reaching this ambitious goal requires knowledge about cyclists' preferences concerning operation and maintenance (M&O) of roads and foot/cycle paths. Previous research sug…
Off on the wrong foot : Task avoidance at the outset of primary school anticipates academic difficulties and declining peer acceptance
2021
The present study examined the academic antecedents of declining peer social status. Participants included 545 (311 boys, 234 girls) Finnish students followed from the 1st through the 4th grade (ages 6–8 at outset). Each year, teachers completed assessments of academic task avoidance and students completed standardized measures of reading and math achievement. Acceptance was assayed through peer nominations. Supporting the hypothesized model, the results indicated that a lack of interest and motivation at the outset of primary school leads to a downward spiral of academic difficulties and diminished peer acceptance. Specifically, academic task avoidance in 1st and 2nd grade anticipated decl…
