Polymorphic warning signals in aposematic systems are enigmatic because predator learning should favor the most common form, creating positive frequency-dependent survival. However, many populations exhibit variation in warning signals. There are various selective mechanisms that can counter positive frequency-dependent selection and lead to temporal or spatial warning signal diversification. Examining these mechanisms and their effects requires first confirming whether the most common morphs are favored at both local and regional scales. Bakalaura darba “Somu valodas verba “laskea” polisēmijas skaidrojums kognitīvajā lingvistikā” mērķis ir noskaidrot “laskea” verba nozīmju semantiskās attiecības saskaņā ar kognitīvo lingvistiku. Darba pirmajā daļā ir apkopota teorētiskā literatūra par polisēmiju kognitīvajā skatījumā. Teorētiskajā daļā sniegts vispārīgs ieskats par kategorizāciju, prototipu pieeju un polisēmiju kognitīvajā semantikā. Ir apskatīts polisēmijas un homonīmijas nošķiršanas jautājums, polisēmijas atspoguļošanas iespējas, kā arī jaunu vārda nozīmju rašanās iespējas ar metaforu un metonīmijas palīdzību. Pētījumā tiek analizēts metaforu lietojums, galveno uzmanību pievēršot to funkciju izpētei. Metaforu funkcijas ietekmē vairāki faktori, piemēram, autora nodomi un mērķauditorija, kas nozīmē, ka tās ir cieši saistītas ar diskursu un kontekstu. Tādējādi, šajā darbā tika pētīts metaforu lietojums 2020. gada ārzemju mediju publikācijās par Latvijas jaunuzņēmumu ekosistēmu, izmantojot Džonatana Čarterisa-Bleka (2004) definēto kritiskā diskursa analīzes metodi. Balstoties uz kognitīvās metaforas teorijām, tika analizētas metaforu funkcijas un to aksioloģiskās vērtības publikācijās.
