Metaforas Cicerona darbā Epistulae ad Familiares
2020
Claude Debussyn pianomusiikki : näkökulmana kuulijan mielikuvat ja teosten kuvailevat otsikot
2014
Effects of stubble height and cutting frequency on regrowth of berseem clover in a Mediterranean semiarid environment
2011
Defoliation management of forage crops affects endogenous reserves (in the root and in the stubble), the residual leaf area, and, consequently, the regrowth and biomass yield. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of cutting frequency (28-d vs. 35-d intervals) and stubble height (3 vs. 6 cm) on forage yield, regrowth, and persistence of berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.). Neither cutting interval nor cutting height affected plant survival during the crop cycle. Frequent clipping reduced crop yield. Residual biomass and leaf area were less when plants were cut at a height of 3 cm compared with 6 cm, but stubble height did not affect the total amount of dry matter (DM) remo…
Uniqueness of Planktonic Ecosystems in the Mediterranean Sea: The Response to Orbital- and Suborbital-Climatic Forcing over the Last 130,000 Years
2016
The Mediterranean Sea is an ideal location to test the response of organisms to hydrological transformations driven by climate change. Here we review studies carried out on planktonic foraminifera and coccolithophores during the late Quaternary and attempt the comparison of data scattered in time and space. We highlight the prompt response of surface water ecosystems to both orbital- and suborbital-climatic variations. A markedly different spatial response was observed in calcareous plankton assemblages, possibly due to the influence of the North Atlantic climatic system in the western, central and northern areas and of the monsoon system in the easternmost and southern sites. Orbital-induc…
Dietary and Temporal Niche Differentiation in Tropical Ants-Can They Explain Local Ant Coexistence?
2014
How species with similar ecological requirements avoid competitive exclusion remains contentious, especially in the species-rich tropics. Niche differentiation has been proposed as a major mechanism for species coexistence. However, different niche dimensions must be studied simultaneously to assess their combined effects on diversity and composition of a community. In most terrestrial ecosystems, ants are among the most abundant and ubiquitous animals. Since they display direct, aggressive competition and often competitively displace subordinate species from resources, niche differentiation may be especially relevant among ants. We studied temporal and trophic niche differentiation in a gr…
Therapeutic metaphors and personal meanings in group poetry therapy for people with schizophrenia
2021
This article concerns the therapeutic potential of metaphor in group poetry therapy, concentrating on the poetry therapy process of people diagnosed with schizophrenia. The data was collected in a one-year poetry therapy group. The main questions were: (1) What kind of therapeutic potential can metaphors offer in group poetry therapy? (2) What are the personal meanings and evaluations that the participants give to the therapy process and its effects on their lives? (3) What are the most significant elements in poetry therapy from the viewpoint of the client? The analysis was based on the Grounded theory method. The results showed that the most significant therapeutic factors of the process …
MR imaging of bilateral paramedian thalamic and mesencephalic infarcts: A case report
2010
We describe MR imaging of bilateral infarction of the paramedian portion of the mesencephalus and thalamus due to an occlusion of the Percheron artery. This entity is due to one of the anatomic variants of the perforating arteries supplying the thalamus and mesenchephalus. Clinically this kind of infarction presents with neurologic impairment as a disorder of consciousness, memory dysfunctions, various types of vertical gaze palsy and psychic changes, which need to be differentiated from delirium and coma. At MRI evaluation infarction of the paramedian portion of thalami and midbrain, with a “butterfly wings” pattern, was demonstrated as high signal intensity areas on FLAIR and FSE-T2W ima…
Foragers of the stingless bee Plebeia droryana inform nestmates about the direction, but not the distance to food sources
2020
The tropical stingless bees have evolved intricate communication systems to recruit nestmates to food locations. Some species are able to accurately communicate the location of food, whereas others simply announce the presence of food in the environment. Plebeia droryana is a tiny Neotropical stingless bee that, until recently, was thought to use a solitary foraging strategy, that is without the use of a recruitment communication system. However, recent research has indicated that P. droryana might be able to recruit nestmates to specific food source locations. We tested this by studying whether foragers can guide nestmates in the direction and the distance of artificial feeders placed in t…
2015
[EN] In the face of the social crisis of intimacy for the extimacy, in neurosciences, and its reduction to privacy in legal field, this article explains the orteguian idea of the intimacy highlighting its bodily character. This notion of intimacy, rooted in body, discovers the sentimental aspect of reality (lyricism), and also overcomes thingism and subjectivism through the analysis of the mechanism of metaphor and the capacity of entering yourself. Reality of intimacy is conceived as enforceability (executive reality), and represents an alternative to idealism, objetivism of conscience and psychological introspection.
