The evolution of an obligate parasitic lifestyle often leads to the reduction of morphological and physiological traits, which may be accompanied by loss of genes and functions. Slave-maker ants are social parasites that exploit the work force of closely related ant species for social behaviours such as brood care and foraging. Recent divergence between these social parasites and their hosts enables comparative studies of gene family evolution. We sequenced the genomes of eight ant species, representing three independent origins of ant slavery. El corpus español está compuesto de noticias tanto nacionales como internacionales. La investigación tiene perspectiva sincrónica y apela por la metodología mixta entre el periodismo y la lingüística. Caecal perforation is a complication secondary to colon obstruction. It may present with insidious clinical features and may be associated with chronic constipation. The event may become severe due to the peritonitic development. We present a case of caecal perforation associated with sub-occlusive carcinoma of the left colon and hypotonic colitis caused by chronic lavative abuse, demonstrated with Computed Tomography.

Espolonectomía: una nueva modificación de la esclerectomía profunda no perforante

Objetivos: Evaluar los resultados de una nueva modificación de la esclerectomía profunda no perforante (EPNP) denominada espolonectomía. Métodos: Estudio retrospectivo no aleatorizado y comparativo que incluyó 98 ojos (grupo A) operados con espolonectomía, que consiste en la combinación de la escisión del espolón escleral con EPNP. El grupo control (B) incluyó 53 ojos operados con EPNP clásica. Durante 12 meses se estudiaron la presión intraocular (PIO), los medicamentos antiglaucomatosos que requirieron y las complicaciones. Resultados: La PIO media disminuyó de 25,69 ± 8,11 preoperatoria a 15,73 ± 4,16 mmHg después de la cirugía en el grupo A (p < 0,001). En el grupo B disminuyó de 26,66 …

W niniejszym artykule podjęta została próba przedstawienia konceptualizacji abstrakcyjnych i złożonych zjawisk gospodarczych jako choroby/ witalności w polskim i niemieckim dyskursie prasowym. Kontrastywna eksplikacja zawartości znaczeniowej wybranych modeli metaforycznych, ukazanie ukrytej w nich intencji komunikatywnej jak również obrazu rzeczywistości oraz porównanie wyodrębnionych metafor na płaszczyźnie funkcyjnej i formalnej stanowiła istotny cel niniejszej pracy.
