  Tämän proseminaaritutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia abiturienttien motivaatiota opiskella englantia ja ruotsia ja vertailla mahdollisia eroja vastaajien motivaatiossa kyseisiä kieliä kohtaan. Tutkimuksessa haluttiin selvittää muun muassa sitä, kuinka suuri rooli tulevilla ylioppilaskirjoituksilla, jatko-opiskeluilla ja tulevalla työllä on abiturienttien kielten opiskelussa ja opiskelumotivaatiossa. The present paper reports on a qualitative study investigating how Iranian learners of English as a foreign language understand culture and the extent to which this understanding meets the needs of efficient intercultural communication. In order to gather data, in-depth semistructured interviews were conducted with eight participants. The interviews were designed and thematically analyzed using Baker’s (2011) model of intercultural awareness. Foreign language (FL) learning is increasingly examined in terms of the language learning person’s agency, autonomy and identity. What agency refers to in FL learning and how it relates to autonomy and identity nevertheless remains unclear. As theoretical discussions about the interconnections are ambiguous, more empirical evidence is needed. The present article addresses this need, contributing to a fuller understanding of the three notions in FL education. Kirjallisuuden hyödyntäminen kieltenopetuksessa Suomessa on ollut suhteellisen vähäistä. Kirjallisuuden käyttö kielten opetuksessa tarjoaa kuitenkin enemmän hyötyjä kuin haasteita. Kielen oppimisen lisäksi kirjallisuuden käytöllä voidaan edistää laajempia opetussuunnitelman mukaisia tavoitteita esimerkiksi ihmisenä kasvua. On the Location Attractiveness of Emerging Countries for Foreign Direct Investments

Our paper investigates the FDI attracting potential of emerging markets by in terms of their location attributes. We use Statistical cluster analysis to study the dynamic evolution of emerging markets’ clusters, based on country attributes that are relevant for the MNEs location decision. We find that countries tend to be grouped at a geographical level or depending on the various resources they possess, except for China that clusters independently. Also, there are numerous countries’ transitions from one cluster to another over the years, which indicate a natural process of changing location attributes and market development for many emerging economies.
