Abstract Success of a bulk forming process is significantly affected by several operative parameters, such as dies and workpiece temperature, friction factor, preformed dimensions and its initial positioning. In the paper the hot extrusion forging of an half shaft of a two stroke motorcycle engine has been investigated. Cogging torque comparison of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators with different stator windings

This paper presents the comparison between the cogging torques produced by four IPMSGs (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators) with different stator winding configurations. More in detail, an IPMSG model, which is derived from a commercial geometry, is analyzed through means of a FEM (Finite Element Method) approach. Then, three more structures are determined and analyzed by adequately changing the number of stator slots of the basic IPMSG stator structure and by maintaining the same rotor configuration. In impression die forging the role of the flash geometry is fundamental since a proper design of the flash land strongly influences both the complete die filling and the die wear (i.e. the die life and the related costs). In this paper an integrated approach between numerical simulations and statistical tools was developed with the aim to optimize flash thickness in order to reduce die wear and to minimize material wasting. During the Second World War, not only the United States but also Great Britain played a leading role in planning and establishing the United Nations (UN) as a new international organisation to replace the League of Nations.
