The following paper examines the Baumanian “forms of togethernes” in the space of the contemporary metropolis, both in the West (Europe, the USA), and the developing world (China). Zygmunt Bauman understands togetherness as a totality of interhuman actions, occurring in the city space. Paradoxically, the contemporary metropolis which often seems hostile towards traditional bourgeois urban life opens up new possibilities of mutual relations between contemporary citizens. Problem Transformation Methods with Distance-Based Learning for Multi-Target Regression

Multi-target regression is a special subset of supervised machine learning problems. Problem transformation methods are used in the field to improve the performance of basic methods. The purpose of this article is to test the use of recently popularized distance-based methods, the minimal learning machine (MLM) and the extreme minimal learning machine (EMLM), in problem transformation. The main advantage of the full data variants of these methods is the lack of any meta-parameter. The experimental results for the MLM and EMLM show promising potential, emphasizing the utility of the problem transformation especially with the EMLM. peerReviewed

In the year 1788, the parish of Los Santos Juanes in Valencia proposed to the City Council the erection of same classical-style portico in order to beautify its outer eastern façade, surrounding the head of the temple and relying on the Plaza del Mercado. This portico was never built, but there would be an impact of such an architectural purpose in subsequent reform plans of that outstanding urban location.

Il progetto per il primo concorso, del 1884, redatto dall’allora giovanissimo Ernesto Basile (Palermo 1857-1932), rivela una grande perizia progettuale che trasforma il complesso programma funzionale in un austero edificio in stile neofiorentino. Brief description of the object of study The competition of the Palace of Justice in Rome takes place in four phases between 1884 and 1887. The project for the first competition in 1884 drawn up by the then very young Ernesto Basile (Palermo 1857-1932) reveals a great deal of design expertise that transforms the complex functional program into an austere building in neo-florentine style. The original drawings of the building not realized kept in the Basile Endowment of the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo have been the subject of preliminary study to the phases of analysis interpretation and conceptual reconstruction of the digital model. 2. The Formalisation of Water Use and Conditional Ownership in Colca Valley, Peru

This article discusses the production and negotiation of water ownership among peasant farmers in the Majes-Colca watershed in southern Peru, where the public water administration initiated a process of formalising user rights for potable water in 2011. While a large-scale irrigation project channels water from the headwaters to export-oriented agriculture in the desert, the supply of water is getting scarcer because of climate change. The Peruvian water resources law from 2009 acknowledges water as public property, yet emphasises its economic value and encourages private investment.
