Background Propofol reduces neuronal damage from cerebral ischemia when investigated for less than 8 postischemic days. This study investigates the long-term effects of propofol on neuronal damage and apoptosis-related proteins after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned as follows: group 1 (n = 32, control): fentanyl and nitrous oxide-oxygen; group 2 (n = 32, propofol): propofol and oxygen-air. Among the most common diseases must be considered thraumatisms, neoplasms, inflammation, but also congenital malformations. Instability of the CVJ is a potentially life-threatening condition and improper treatment can lead to severe neurological deficits as well as continuous, excruciating pain in the neck. Conservative treatments are often disappointing and surgery must always be taken in consideration when approaching instability of the CVJ, being in many cases the only therapy that can provide satisfactory results.

The role of the cardiovascular regulatory mechanism in patients with neuromediate syncope (NS) is poorly understood. The aim of this study was to accomplish continuous non-invasive analysis of the baroreflex mechanism in patients during a head-tip tilt-table test (HTT) using an open-loop autoregressive model with exogenous input. The model describes the causal dependence of the RR interval on the systolic arterial pressure (SAP) variability.
