Partnership formation and dissolution over the life course: applying sequence analysis and event history analysis in the study of recurrent events

We present two types of approach to the analysis of recurrent events for discretely measured data, and show how these methods can complement each other when analysing co-residential partnership histories. Sequence analysis is a descriptive tool that gives an overall picture of the data and helps to find typical and atypical patterns in histories. Event history analysis is used to make conclusions about the effects of covariates on the timing and duration of the partnerships. Distinctive Lexical Patterns in Russian Patient Information Leaflets: A Corpus-Driven Study

This methodologically-oriented corpus-driven study focuses on distinctive patterns of language use in a specialized text type, namely Russian patient information leaflets. The study’s main goal is to identify keywords and recurrent sequences of words that account for the leaflets’ formulaicity, and - as a secondary goal - to describe their discoursal functions. The keywords were identified using three methods (G2, Hedges’ g and Neozeta) and the overlap between the three metrics was explored. The overlapping keywords were qualitatively analyzed in terms of discoursal functions. Abstract The European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) recast proposes, a comparative methodology to calculate cost-optimal levels of minimum energy performance requirements for buildings. This paper presents a method able to select the best retrofit action for lighting system, selectively analysing the daylight conditions and applying the cost-optimal methodology for different scenarios proposed for two existing educational buildings located in Italy. Jēdzienu karšu izmantošana formatīvajā vērtēšanā bioloģijas apguvē

Darba mērķis izpētīt jēdzienu karšu izmantošanu formatīvajā vērtēšanā (FV) bioloģijas apguvē un noskaidrot, kā FV, izmantojot jēdzienu kartes, ietekmē skolēnu mācību sniegumus bioloģijā. Pētījuma empīriskajā daļā ir izveidoti un aprobēti bioloģijas stundu plāni, iekļaujot jēdzienu karšu veidošanu un izmantošanu, veikta skolotāju aptauja, apzinot viņu pieredzi FV, kā arī noskaidrota skolēnu attieksme jēdzienu karšu veidošanā un izmantošanā. Pētījuma rezultāti pierāda, ka jēdzienu karšu veidošana un izmantošana FV sekmē skolēnu izpratni par tematu, sniedz kvalitatīvu atgriezenisko saiti, tādējādi pozitīvi ietekmējot skolēnu mācību sniegumus bioloģijā.
