Comparative Study About Different Experimental Layouts Used on Single Point Incremental Forming Process
2018
Abstract The present paper proposes a comparative study between two of the most used experimental layouts on the single point incremental forming with the advantages and disadvantages of these experimental layouts. After a short presentation of the newest technological opportunities on single point incremental forming, the paper presents a classification of the experimental layouts used on this kind of forming process. The comparative study highlights the advantages and the disadvantages of using the universal milling machines and the industrial robots on single point incremental forming. There are presented the results focused on thinning and forces in the SPIF process.
A Musical Pattern Discovery System Founded on a Modeling of Listening Strategies
2004
Music is a domain of expression that conveys a paramount degree of complexity. The musical surface, composed of a multitude of notes, results from the elaboration of numerous structures of different types and sizes. The composer constructs this structural complexity in a more or less explicit way. The listener, faced by such a complex phenomenon, is able to reconstruct only a limited part of it, mostly in a non-explicit way. One particular aim of music analysis is to objectify such complexity, thus offering to the listener a tool for enriching the appreciation of music (Lartillot and SaintJames, 2004). The trouble is, traditional musical analysis, although offering a valuable understanding …
The Atmospheric Aerosol and Trace Gases
2010
From Chapter 6, it is evident that an understanding of the cloud forming processes in the atmosphere requires knowledge of the physical and chemical characteristics of the atmospheric aerosol. In dicussing this gaseous suspension of solid and liquid particles, it is customary to include all gases except water vapor, and all solid and liquid particles except hydrometeors, i.e., cloud and raindrops, and ice particles.
How emotional response mediates servicescape impact on post consumption outcomes: An application to opera events
2020
Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine how emotions mediate the impact of a holistic servicescape -physical and social- on post-consumption outcomes in the performing arts. Partial Least Square (PLS) was conducted to test the mediation hypothesized relationships on a sample of 867 opera goers. The proposed research model was largely supported by the evidence, and the mediating role of emotions was confirmed. Servicescape influences direct and indirectly attendees' post consumption in opera given that emotions play a partial mediating role which is greater in the case of positive emotions. Based on the results, this study offers specific theoretical and managerial implications conc…
Electricity Consumption Analysis of Tertiary Buildings: An Empirical Approach for Two University Campuses
2020
An empirical approach for the analysis of energy consumption of existing buildings of the tertiary sector is presented in this study. It allowed the organization and management of large amounts of data according to different timeframes and helped to focus on leading issues about energy uses, and dealt with compatibility with tariff structure. The analysis method, which implied a powerful graphical representation of the results, allowed us to detect critical issues in electricity energy management for public buildings and improve their energy performance. Furthermore, the authors proposed a set of electricity consumption indexes (ECIs) that gave useful insight into the main hotspots. The bas…
Power System Oscillations with Different Prevalence of Grid-Following and Grid-Forming Converters
2022
The oscillatory behaviour of the power system is an aspect that is significantly affected by the increasing integration of converter-based generation sources. Several works address the impact of non-synchronous generation on the operation of the system from different points of view, but only a few studies focus on power-frequency oscillations with a prevalence of generation sources interfaced through power electronics. A lack of research can be found in particular in the comparative analysis of the two main control strategies for power converters, namely grid-following and grid-forming. The article aims to contribute to this direction, starting from a theoretical analysis of the two control…

2013
The 2012 campaign of the archaeological research project permitted the exhaustive excavations of the immediate surroundings of the southern nave of the abbey church of St Peter in Osor. The richness and the complexity of the discovered structures confirmed the great archaeological potential of this sector. Namely, a funeral zone that is situated south to the church is occupied by two buildings perpendicular to the church which we interpret as a mausoleum (the one on the west) and a chapel with one privileged burial (the one on the east). The great number of built tombs or simples graves confirmed that this sector had funeral function even before the XIth century and the construction of the …
Esquisse d'un paysage monastique insulaire dans le nord de l'Adriatique : l'archipel du Kvarner (Croatie)
2013
The authors of the article set as their goal the examination of the complex question of early Monasticism (up to the 11th century) in the Kvarner region, reconsidering the old archaeological data, the unpublished ancient results and the results of new archaeological surveys gathered since 2010 through the specific research program. The first difficulty encountered is that of the actual identification of the archaeological remains as a monastic or hermitic site, given the lack of any written source for most of the sites. We examine here a certain number of religious sites, potentially monastic ones, considering their larger context of implantation, their patron, and/or their vicinity to a by…
