Taking cue from the words of Gabriel García Márquez, the essay analyzes a gallery of photographic images portraying “family photos”, made in Sicily between the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century, which are placed in an inter- mediate space between oral and written traditions becoming “biographical object”. El trabajo realizado, como su título expresa, pretende analizar la situación del arte, ( pintura, escultura y arquitectura) y el paisaje urbano después de la guerra civil en la ciudad de Valencia, basándose en las fuentes oficiales. Se intenta demostrar que no hubo alteraciones destacadas dentro del período estudiado. En el urbanismo se mantuvieron las líneas trazadas en las etapas anteriores. En la arquitectura, en los primeros años, se mantienen los estilos que venían aplicándose con la República y de manera paulatina se introduce un estilo pragmático, que aglutina en sí mismo una amalgama de estilos, y que resulta el más utilizado en la ciudad hasta el cambio de tendencia.
