Effect of T-R conformational change on sickle-cell hemoglobin interactions and aggregation

We compare the role of a conformational switch and that of a point mutation in the thermodynamic stability of a protein solution and in the consequent propensity toward aggregation. We study sickle-cell hemoglobin (HbS), the beta6 Glu-Val point mutant of adult human hemoglobin (HbA), in its R (CO-liganded) conformation, and compare its aggregation properties to those of both HbS and HbA in their T (unliganded) conformation. Static and dynamic light scattering measurements performed for various hemoglobin concentrations showed critical divergences with mean field exponents as temperature was increased. Periodic discrete splines with different periods and spans are introduced in Sect. 3.4 of Volume I (Averbuch, Neittaanmaki and Zheludev, Spline and Spline Wavelet Methods with Applications to Signal and Image Processing, Springer, Berlin, 2014) [2]. In this chapter, we regard periodic discrete splines as a base for the design of periodic discrete-time wavelets, wavelet packets and wavelet frames. Periodic Orthogonal Wavelets and Wavelet Packets

In this chapter, we discuss how to derive versatile families of periodic discrete-time orthogonal wavelets and wavelet packets from discrete and discrete-time splines outlined in Chap. 3. These wavelets and wavelet packets, although not having compact supports, are well localized in the time domain. They can have any number of discrete vanishing moments. Their DFT spectra tend to have a rectangular shape when the spline order grows and provide a collection of refined splits of the Nyquist frequency band. The wavelet and wavelet packet transforms are implemented in a fast way using the FFT.

Abstract A method has been developed for Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy determination of Propamocarb in emulsifiable pesticide concentrate formulations. Five microliter sample was directly injected without any pretreatment in a CHCl 3 stream at 2 mL min −1 into a closed system and the FTIR spectra of sample and standard solutions were obtained using a nominal resolution of 4 cm −1 from 4000 to 900 cm −1 spectral region and accumulating 2 scans per spectrum. Analysis of multi degree of freedom systems with fractional derivative elements of rational order

In this paper a novel method based on complex eigenanalysis in the state variables domain is proposed to uncouple the set of rational order fractional differential equations governing the dynamics of multi-degree-of-freedom system. The traditional complex eigenanalysis is appropriately modified to be applicable to the coupled fractional differential equations. This is done by expanding the dimension of the problem and solving the system in the state variable domain. Examples of applications are given pertaining to multi-degree-of-freedom systems under both deterministic and stochastic loads.
Response functions in multicomponent Luttinger liquids

We derive an analytic expression for the zero temperature Fourier transform of the density-density correlation function of a multicomponent Luttinger liquid with different velocities. By employing Schwinger identity and a generalized Feynman identity exact integral expressions are derived, and approximate analytical forms are given for frequencies close to each component singularity. We find power-like singularities and compute the corresponding exponents. Numerical results are shown for the case of three components.

Abstract By using the continuous wavelet transform with Haar basis the second-order properties of the wavelet coefficients are derived for the random telegraph signal (RTS) and for the 1 / f noise which is obtained by summation of many RTSs. The correlation structure of the Haar wavelet coefficients for these processes is found. For the wavelet spectrum of the 1 / f noise some characteristics related to the distribution of the relaxation times of the RTS are derived. Lattices and dual lattices in optimal experimental design for Fourier models

Number-theoretic lattices, used in integration theory, are studied from the viewpoint of the design and analysis of experiments. For certain Fourier regression models lattices are optimal as experimental designs because they produce orthogonal information matrices. When the Fourier model is restricted, that is a special subset of the full factorial (cross-spectral) model is used, there is a difficult inversion problem to find generators for an optimal design for the given model. Asymptotic results are derived for certain models as the dimension of the space goes to infinity.
