A Case Study of Open Source Software Development in Proteomic Area: The LIMS ePims

The objective of this paper is to provide an illustrative feedback on development of Open Source software among several partners. We describe the first stage of the design of a specific software package, namely a customized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for biology applications. This software package is structured in several modules which are reusable and can be customized for other applications. In this paper, we address the problem of multi-licensing for the same software tools due to the participation of several partners, the reuse of code source, and the subsequent distribution of this produced software.

The conflict between spatial and temporal resolution of satellite systems, as well as the frequent presence of clouds in the images, has been a traditional limitation of remote sensing in the optical domain. Nevertheless, most of the conceptual tools and algorithms developed classically in remote sensing are based on the input of a series of cloud-free images from identical sensors. The iterative object symmetry transform

This paper introduces a new operator named the Iterated Object Transform that is computed by combining the Object Symmetry Transform with the morphological operator erosion. This new operator has been applied on both binary and gray levels images showing the ability to grasp the internal structure of a digital object. We present some experiments on real images in face analysis.

In this work we propose an interpretation of the LSA framework which leads to a data-driven “conceptual” space creation suitable for an “intuitive” conversational agent. The proposed approach allows overcoming the limitations of traditional, rule-based, chat-bots, leading to a more natural dialogue.
Accuracy of stereotactic coordinate transformation using a localisation frame and computed tomographic imaging

The accuracy of coordinate transformation from a CT image to a stereotactic frame was investigated for stereotactic systems using a localisation frame and matrix-based coordinate transformation. The main source of error influencing calculation was input data, due to inaccurate calculation of the centres of the rods of the localisation frame in the CT image, and the propagation of this input error during subsequent matrix calculation. Systemic errors during matrix calculation do not exist, and rounding off errors were of subordinate importance compared to the input data error. The focus in this paper is on the introduction and implementation of learning outcomes based on the descriptors in the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR). It discusses reaction to the introduction by teacher educators as well as the influence on teacher assessment practice in courses for prospective teachers of English as a foreign language. The paper presents some of the results from a case study concerning changes made in connection with the Bologna process in a department of education within a university college in Sweden.
