Une fortification inédite de la résidence princière de Vix

Within the framework of a palaeoenvironmental study of the princely site of Vix, a trench was excavated at the foot of the eastern slope of the mont Lassois. This trench allowed to unearth a new fortification of the Hallstattian defensive system. The geophysical surveys showed that a segment of the eastern slope is lined with this new fortification. The second significant discovery was the presence of a new settlement in this area of the hill. Some data point out a possi-ble craft production area dated in the Hallstatt D2/D3. In the history of sainthood, cult and devotion, images play a role just as important as that played by relics. Being a representation of the saint that is portrayed, the holy image is an active presence, and the cult of the saint feeds on pictures whose creation comes from the need for the materialization of the sacred. Throughout the canonization process of Benedict the Moor (1594-1807) images were produced and listed, together with hagiographies, as an expression of the devotion for the Santo Negro. Dopo una premessa sulla produzione scultore francescana in Italia, in particolare in Sicilia, si esamina la storiografia siciliana che, a partire dal XVII secolo, si è occupata della produzione dello scultore Innocenzo da Petralia Sottana (1602/03-1648 circa), frate laico dell’ordine dei Minori Riformati. L’artista, la cui figura è stata adombrata da quella del più noto frate Umile da Petralia Soprana, ha scolpito Crocifissi non solo in Sicilia, ma in altre regioni della penisola, dal Lazio all’Umbria alle Marche.
