This paper resumes the main mathematical models of Fuel Cells (PEM models). In particular, a comparison study of the various models introduced in the technical literature is presented and the dependency of the various model parameters is analyzed in different operating conditions. As the manifold of the model parameter is very wide and their determination is difficult, it is mandatory to introduce approximations and simplifications on which each model is based. Simultaneous Airline Scheduling

Currently, there are no solution approaches available to construct and optimize airline schedules within a single model. All existing approaches decompose the problem into smaller and less complex subproblems and solve those subproblems separately. This chapter presents a metaheuristic for simultaneous airline scheduling where several different subproblems are integrated into one single optimization model, except for crew scheduling. The problem-specific metaheuristic uses an adaptive procedure for operator selection to allow an efficient choice between a variety of different operators. A model of neutrino mass and dark matter with large neutrinoless double beta decay

We propose a model where neutrino masses are generated at three loop order but neutrinoless double beta decay occurs at one loop. Thus we can have large neutrinoless double beta decay observable in the future experiments even when the neutrino masses are very small. The model receives strong constraints from the neutrino data and lepton flavor violating decays, which substantially reduces the number of free parameters. Our model also opens up the possibility of having several new scalars below the TeV regime, which can be explored at the collider experiments. Additionally, our model also has an unbroken $Z_2$ symmetry which allows us to identify a viable Dark Matter candidate.
Pileup and underlying event mitigation with iterative constituent subtraction

Abstract The hard-scatter processes in hadronic collisions are often largely contaminated with soft background coming from pileup in proton-proton collisions, or underlying event in heavy-ion collisions. This paper presents a new background subtraction method for jets and event observables (such as missing transverse energy) which is based on the previously published Constituent Subtraction algorithm. The new subtraction method, called Iterative Constituent Subtraction, applies event-wide implementation of Constituent Subtraction iteratively in order to fully equilibrate the background subtraction across the entire event. A predictive model for the electronic stopping force for molecular dynamic simulation (I)

Abstract We have examined a predictive model for the electronic stopping force (dE/dx)e to be used in the classical molecular dynamic (MD) simulation. The essential term (dE/dx)proton of (dE/dx)e is based on the Lindhard–Winther theory, while the effective charge follows the Brandt–Kitagawa model. The (dE/dx)proton term is expressed by the electron local density ρ(r) defined by the Muffin-tin model and the Hartree–Fock–Slater approximation. Confirmation of gA quenching using the revised spectrum-shape method for the analysis of the 113Cd β-decay as measured with the COBRA demonstrator

In this article we present an updated spectrum-shape analysis of the $^{113}$Cd fourfold forbidden non-unique $\beta$-decay transition in order to address the quenching of the weak axial-vector coupling $g_{\rm A}$ in low-momentum exchange nuclear processes. The experimental data were collected in a dedicated low-threshold run with the COBRA demonstrator at the LNGS and resulted in 44 individual $^{113}$Cd spectra. These data are evaluated in the context of three nuclear model frameworks based on a revised version of the spectrum-shape method and the conserved vector current hypothesis. The two Λ(1405) poles from photoproduction data

We present results extracting the position of the two Λ(1405) poles from experimental photoproduction data measured recently at different energies in the γp → K + π 0 Σ 0 and γp → K + π ± Σ ∓ reactions at Jefferson Lab. The analysis is done by means of a chiral dynamics motivated potential but with free parameters, which guarantees analyticity and unitarity in the solutions. With the best result we find the two Λ(1405) poles at about 1352 − 48 i MeV and 1419 − 29 i MeV.

Fully Covariant and Conformal Formulation of the Z4 System Compared to the BSSN Formulation in Spherical Symmetry

We have generalized a covariant and conformal version of the Z4 system of the Einstein equations by adopting a reference metric approach, that we denote as fCCZ4, well suited for curvilinear as well as Cartesian coordinates. We implement this formalism in spherical polar coordinates under the assumption of spherical symmetry using a partially-implicit Runge-Kutta (PIRK) method, without using any regularization scheme, and show that our code can evolve both vacuum and non-vacuum spacetimes without encountering instabilities. The Near-Infrared Surface Brightness Distribution of NGC4696

We present H-band observations of the elliptical galaxy NGC4696, the brightest member of the Centaurus cluster of galaxies. We have measured its light profile, using a two-dimensional fitting algorithm, out to a radius of 180 arcsec (37 h^{-1}_{70} kpc). The profile is well described by a de Vaucouleurs law, with an effective radius of 35.3 +/- 1.0 h^{-1}_{70} kpc. There is no need for the extra free parameter allowed by a Sersic law. Allowing for a variation of 0.3% in the sky level, the profile obtained is compatible with data from 2MASS. The profile shows no sign of either a truncation or an extended halo.
