Fructooligosaccharide and levan producing activity of Zymomonas mobilis extracellular levansucrase

Abstract The present work was devoted to investigations of the fructooligosaccharide (FOS) and levan forming activity of ethanol producing bacteria Zymomonas mobilis and their extracellular levansucrase. After cell separation the culture liquid was treated with ethanol to precipitate levan together with extracellular levansucrase. Terminal portions of `Flordaguard' peach roots [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] were divided into six segments and the activities of NAD+-dependent sorbitol dehydrogenase (SDH), sorbitol oxidase (SOX), sucrose synthase (SS), soluble acid invertase (AI), and soluble neutral invertase (NI) were measured in each segment 10, 15, and 20 days after seed germination. Sugar beet diffusion juice and syrup as media for ethanol and levan production byZymomonas mobilis

Abstract Sugar beet is an important crop cultivated widely in Europe. Roots contain up to 6–9 t/ha of fermentable sugar. Our laboratory is targeting to investigate the production possibilities of ethanol and levan by Zymomonas mobilis bacteria, using sugar beet juice or their syrup as raw material. The Z.mobilis strain 113 “S”;, selected in our institute, produces simultaneously with ethanol up to 40–70 g/1 fructose polymer levan in sucrose medium. AbstractThe fruit of date palm trees are an important part of the diet for a large portion of the Middle East and North Africa. The fruit is consumed both fresh and dry and can be stored dry for extended periods of time. Date fruits vary significantly across hundreds of cultivars identified in the main regions of cultivation. Most dried date fruit are low in sucrose but high in glucose and fructose. Different solid sulfonic titania-based catalysts were investigated for the hydrothermal dehydration of fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF). The catalytic behavior of the materials was evaluated in terms of fructose conversion and selectivity to 5-HMF. Cluster headache needs to be rapidly diagnosed and effectively managed, as the individual headache attacks that are characteristic of this disorder are excruciatingly painful and debilitating. Topiramate and Metabolic Acidosis in Infants and Toddlers

Summary:  Purpose: Topiramate (TPM) inhibits carbonic anhydrase, with metabolic acidosis as a possible side effect, although this has been reported in only two adult cases. We investigated the acid–base metabolism in infants and toddlers treated with TPM. Methods: Nine infants and toddlers aged 5 months to 2.3 years (median, 6 months) were treated with TPM at maximal doses of 8.2–26 mg/kg/day (median, 11 mg/kg/day). The maximal TPM dose was achieved after 8–35 days (median, 17 days). Chromatin structure of the yeast FBP1 gene: transcription-dependent changes in the regulatory and coding regions.

We have studied the chromatin structure of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae FBP1 gene, which codes for fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase. A strong, constitutive, DNase I, micrococcal nuclease and S1 nuclease hypersensitive site is present close to the 3′ end of the coding region. In the repressed state, positioned nucleosomes exist around this site, and subtle changes occur in this nucleosomal organization upon derepression. A DNase I hypersensitive region is located within the promoter between positions −540 and −400 and it extends towards the gene in the derepressed state, leading to an alteration of nucleosomal positioning. This research aimed to analyze variations in chemical properties, microbiological characteristics and generated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) profile during sourdough fermentation.
