Functional implications of the staminal lever mechanism in Salvia cyclostegia (Lamiaceae)

Flower morphology and inflorescence architecture affect pollinator foraging behaviour and thereby influence the process of pollination and the reproductive success of plants. This study explored possible ecological functions of the lever-like stamens and the floral design in Salvia cyclostegia.Flower construction was experimentally manipulated by removing either the lower lever arms or the upper fertile thecae of the two stamens from a flower. Evaluation of Mycotoxins in Infant Breast Milk and Infant Food, Reviewing the Literature Data

In this review, an analysis focusing on mycotoxin determination in infant breast milk and infant food has been summarised for the last fifteen years of research focused on the intended population group of 1–9 months. The objective was to know the level of exposure of the child population to an estimated daily intake (EDI) of mycotoxins from the consumption of habitual foods. The EDI was compared with the tolerable daily intake (TDI) established by EFSA to estimate risk. Sensory adaptation has been measured in the antennae of male Grapholita molesta (Busck) after 15 min of exposure to its main pheromone compound (Z)-8-dodecen-1-yl acetate (Z8-12:OAc) at the aerial concentration of 1 ng/m(3) measured in orchards treated with pheromone for mating disruption. Exposing males to this aerial concentration of Z8-12:OAc for 15 min, however, had only a small effect on their ability to orientate by flight to virgin calling females in a flight tunnel. Evaluation of different mechanical fruit harvesting systems and oil quality in very large size olive trees

In 2006 and 2009, trials were carried out in the Apulia region in Southern Italy to evalu-ate the possibility of mechanizing olive harvesting in groves of old and very large trees. The trees belonged to the cultivars ‘Cellina di Nardò’ and ‘Ogliarola Salentina’. They were 60-100 years old and 7-9 m tall with a canopy volume of 140-360 m3. Microbiological and Enological Parameters during Fermentation of Musts from Poor and Normal Grape-Harvests in the Region of Alicante (Spain)

Must and wine from grapes harvested in two vintages (1986 and 1987) were anlyzed during vinification for physicochemical and microbiological characteristics. The 1986 vintage would be considered abnormal or poor vintage because of higher rainfall at harvest, and the 1987 one a normal vintage. Low reducing sugars and high volatile acidity at the beginning of the poor fermentation was observed as compared to normal vinification. The yeast population showed atypical evolution through the process since oxidative yeasts were isolated in the first stages of the poor vinification.
