[EN] This study describes a model-based method for real-time optimization of the key filtration parameters in a submerged anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) treating urban wastewater (UWW) and UWW mixed with domestic food waste (FW). The method consists of an initial screening to find out adequate filtration conditions and a real-time optimizer applied to a periodically calibrated filtration model for minimizing the operating costs. Praca przedstawia analizę możliwości zasilania ogniw paliwowych biopaliwami. Analizy dokonano na podstawie rozpoznania pozycji literaturowych oraz badań własnych. Przeanalizowano wykorzystanie biogazu, wodoru pozyskanego metodami biologicznymi, wykorzystanie alkoholu metylowego oraz olejów roślinnych. Wykazano, że w przypadku metanolu istotnym jest poszukiwanie katalizatorów nie zawierających metali szlachetnych, natomiast w przypadku olejów roślinnych uzyskiwane wartości gęstości prądu nie pozwalają obecnie na zbudowanie ogniwa paliwowego o dużej wydajności. Assortment, but not knowledge of assortment, affects cooperation and individual success in human groups

The success or failure of human collective action often depends on the cooperation tendencies of individuals in groups, and on the information that individuals have about each other's cooperativeness. However, it is unclear whether these two factors have an interactive effect on cooperation dynamics. Using a decision-making experiment, we confirm that groups comprising individuals with higher cooperation tendencies cooperate at a higher level than groups comprising individuals with low cooperation tendencies. Analysis of Lipophilic Extractives from Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oils

Fast pyrolysis bio-oils (FPBOs) originating from forest residues contain extractive-derived substances, which may form a separate, sticky layer with char particles on the surface of these bio-oils. In this study, first, the removal of extractive-derived substances from the bio-oil top phase was studied by common solvents with different polarities. In this case, the results indicated that when aimed at the maximum yield of single-phase fuel oil and thus the maximum amount of extractives removed, the use of n-heptane or n-hexane seems to be of benefit for this purpose. Niniejsze opracowanie przedstawia możliwości zastosowania mikroalg do produkcji biopaliw III generacji - biodiesla, bioetanolu i biowodoru. Opisano parametry - CO2, temperatura, pH, światło i inne - zapewniające optymalne warunki hodowli mikroalg w fotobioreaktorach. Dokonano charakterystyki fotobioreaktorów, pod kątem ich przydatności do hodowli mikroalg na cele energetyczne. Przedstawiono metody termochemicznego i biochemicznego przetwarzania biomasy glonów stosowane do produkcji poszczególnych biopaliw.

Does corn market uncertainty impact the US ethanol prices?

The growing interest in biofuel as a green energy source has intensified the linkages between corn and ethanol markets, especially in the United States that represents the largest producing and exporting country for ethanol in the world. In this study, we examine the effect of corn market uncertainty on the price changes of US ethanol applying a set of GARCH-jump models. We find that the US ethanol price changes react positively to the corn market volatility shocks after controlling for the effect of oil price uncertainty.
