Investigations of Low Temperature Phase Transitions in BiFeO3Ceramic by Infrared Spectroscopy
2011
In this paper, results of new infrared FIR-MIR measurements (wavenumber range of 4000–100 cm−1) in the range of the temperature 300 ÷ 8 K of the BiFeO3 ceramic are presented. Below 200 K only one symmetric band at ca. 800 cm−1 is visible. The full width at half maximum of this band decreases exponentially on cooling. The shape of the band at ca. 545 cm−1connected with A1 (TO) mode also changes between 60–40 K, this is in the vicinity of the phase transition at 50 K. Initially a broad band reveals its components as shoulder bands. Theirs FWHM decrease with cooling.

Two deep blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters ( imCzDPS and imDPADPS ) that contain charged imidazolium groups tethered to the central luminophore were designed and synthesized as small molecule organic emitters for light-emitting e…
Fiber-based planar antennas for spectroscopy and sensing
2021
Fluorescence detection is a well-established method for spectroscopy and sensing. However, since dye molecules are dipolar light sources, a large fraction of the emitted photons can be lost. An effective approach to overcome this problem relies on a planar antenna configuration, which beams the radiation pattern of the dye into a narrow cone. A planar antenna works like a Yagi-Uda antenna, but reflector and director elements are made of thin metal films. Here, by introducing a scanning optical fiber, which incorporates the reflector or the director, we demonstrate a tunable planar antenna for spectroscopic and sensing applications. Our results show that the radiation pattern narrows down to…
Collapse and revival of a Dicke-type coherent narrowing in potassium vapor confined in a nanometric-thin cell
2015
A nanometer-thin-cell (in the direction of laser beam propagation) has been elaborated with the thickness of the atomic vapor column varying smoothly in the range of $L = \unit[50-1500]{nm}$. The cell allows one to study the behavior of the resonance absorption over the $D_1$ line of potassium atoms by varying the laser intensity and the cell thickness from $L = \lambda / 2$ to $L = 2 \lambda$ with the step $\lambda/2$ ($\lambda =\unit[770]{nm}$ is the resonant wavelength of the laser). It is shown that despite the huge Doppler broadening ($>\unit[0.9]{GHz}$ at the cell temperature $\unit[170]{^{\circ}C}$), at low laser intensities a narrowing of the resonance absorption spectrum is observe…
High Resolution Spectroscopy of 4U 1728-34 from a Simultaneous Chandra-RXTE Observation
2004
We report on a simultaneous Chandra and RossiXTE observation of the LMXB atoll bursting source 4U 1728-34 performed on 2002 March 3-5. We fitted the 1.2-35 keV continuum spectrum with a blackbody plus a Comptonized component. An overabundance of Si by a factor of ~2 with respect to Solar abundance is required for a satisfactory fit. Large residuals at 6-10 keV can be fitted by a broad (FWHM ~ 1.6 keV) Gaussian emission line, or, alternatively, by absorption edges associated with Fe I and Fe XXV at ~7.1 keV and ~9 keV, respectively. In this interpretation, we find no evidence of a broad, or narrow Fe Kalpha line, between 6 and 7 keV. We tested our alternative modeling of the iron Kalpha regi…
A large proportional drift chamber with two-dimensional read-out
1976
Abstract The construction and performance of a large drift chamber are described, which has a sensitive area of 5 m2 and an average chamber thickness of 0.55 × 10−3 radiation lengths. Simultaneous sense wire- and high voltage read-out gives a good time correlation with ajitter of 2.0 ns fwhm. Measurements with a collimated radioactive α-sources resulted in a time resolution of 4.3 ns fwhm corresponding to a space resolution of 0.20 mm fwhm at the sense wire. The space resolution at the high voltage plane is about 25 mm fwhm.
A/V ratio as predicted by full width at half maximum and by blood vessel tracking in presence of ocular aberrations
2011
Aberrations impact A/V ratio calculated from full width at half maximum. We investigated whether aberrations affect A/V ratio calculated by tracking the vessels. Aberrations changed the A/V ratio. We conclude that aberrations impact A/V ratio.
HIGH-RESOLUTION FOURIER TRANSFORM SPECTROSCOPY OF LANTHANUM IN Ar DISCHARGE IN THE NEAR-INFRARED
2013
A high-resolution spectrum of lanthanum has been recorded by a Fourier Transform spectrometer in the wavelength range from 833 nm to 1666 nm (6000 cm{sup –1} to 12,000 cm{sup –1}) using as light source a hollow cathode lamp operated with argon as the discharge carrier gas. In total, 2386 spectral lines were detected in this region, of which 555 lines could be classified as La I transitions and 10 lines as La II transitions. All La II transitions and 534 of these La I transitions were classified for the first time, and 6 of the La II transitions and 433 of the classified La I transitions appear to be new lines, which could not be found in the literature. The corresponding energy level data o…
Analysis of the infrared Fourier transform spectrum of the Dyad of 116SnH4
1990
Abstract The FTIR spectrum of monoisotopic 116SnH4 has been recorded with the Bruker 120 HR interferometer at Giessen, West Germany, in the ν 2 ν 4 range extending from 600 to 850 cm−1. The resolution (FWHM) was 2.1 × 10−3 cm−1. The Dyad ν 2 ν 4 (0100, 0001) was analyzed using a sixth-order Hamiltonian. The analysis of infrared transitions enabled us to determine 10 ground state parameters, 9 ν2 parameters, 17 ν4 parameters, and 18 interaction parameters. Of 3800 calculated transitions assigned to observed lines, 1183 unblended lines have been selected for the data refinement. For J ≤ 19, the value of the standard deviation is of the order of magnitude of the estimated experimental accuracy…
A two-detector spectrometer for measurements of Doppler broadened positron annihilation spectra
2004
Abstract A two-detector spectrometer for measurements of Doppler broadened positron annihilation spectra has been constructed and tested. The energy difference of the annihilation quanta is measured in the analogue, not in the digital manner. The peak to background ratio in the measured spectra is of the order of 10 6 , the FWHM representing the energy resolution, equals to 1.1 keV , thus enabling the very subtle physical effects to be revealed. Some information on electronic structure of the investigated 3-d metals (Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Ni, Cu and Zn) has been determined using this spectrometer. It has been shown that the apparatus permits to detect the impurity-vacancy pairs in dilute nickel al…
