Experimental study of isomeric intruder 12+ states in At197,203

2017

A newly observed isomeric intruder ${\textonehalf{}}^{+}$ state $[{T}_{\textonehalf{}}=3.5(6)\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}\mathrm{ms}]$ is identified in $^{203}\mathrm{At}$ using a gas-filled recoil separator and fusion-evaporation reactions. The isomer is depopulated through a cascade of $E3$ and mixed $M1/E2$ transitions to the ${9/2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ground state, and it is suggested to originate from the $\ensuremath{\pi}{({s}_{\textonehalf{}})}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ configuration. In addition, the structures above the ${\textonehalf{}}^{+}$ state in $^{203}\mathrm{At}$ and $^{197}\mathrm{At}$ are studied using in-beam $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray spectroscopy, recoil-decay tagging, and recoi…

Theoretical analysis of the γγ→π0η process

2017

We present a theoretical study of the $\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\eta}$ process from the threshold up to 1.4 GeV in the $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\eta}$ invariant mass. For the s-wave ${a}_{0}(980)$ resonance state we adopt a dispersive formalism using a coupled-channel Omn\`es representation, while the d-wave ${a}_{2}(1320)$ state is described as a Breit-Wigner resonance. An analytic continuation to the ${a}_{0}(980)$ pole position allows us to extract its two-photon decay width as ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}}_{{a}_{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}}=0.27(4)\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{keV}$.

Direct Measurement of the Branching Fractions B(ψ(3686)→J/ψX) and B(ψ(3770)→J/ψX) , and Observation of the State R(3760) in e+e−→J/ψX

2021

We report a measurement of the observed cross sections of e + e - → J / ψ X based on 3.21 fb - 1 of data accumulated at energies from 3.645 to 3.891 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII collider. In analysis of the cross sections, we measured the decay branching fractions of B ( ψ ( 3686 ) → J / ψ X ) = ( 64.4 ± 0.6 ± 1.6 ) % and B ( ψ ( 3770 ) → J / ψ X ) = ( 0.5 ± 0.2 ± 0.1 ) % for the first time. The energy-dependent line shape of these cross sections cannot be well described by two Breit-Wigner (BW) amplitudes of the expected decays ψ ( 3686 ) → J / ψ X and ψ ( 3770 ) → J / ψ X . Instead, it can be better described with one more BW amplitude of the decay R ( 3760 ) → J / …

Observation ofZc(3900)0ine+e−→π0π0J/ψ

2015

Using a data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, we observe a new neutral state Z(c)(3900)(0) with a significance of 10.4 sigma. The mass and width are measured to be 3894.8 +/- 2.3 +/- 3.2 MeV/c(2) and 29.6 +/- 8.2 +/- 8.2 MeV, respectively, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The Born cross section for e(+)e(-) -> pi(0)pi(0) J/Psi and the fraction of it attributable to pi(0)Z(c)(3900)(0) -> pi(0)pi(0) J/Psi in the range E-c.m. = 4.19-4.42 GeV are also determined. We interpret this state as the neutral partner of the four-quark candidate Z(c)(3900)(+/-).

Stability of the heaviest elements: K isomer in No250

2020

Decay spectroscopy of No250 has been performed using digital electronics and pulse-shape analysis of the fast nuclear decays for the first time. Previous studies of No250 reported two distinct fission decay lifetimes, related to the direct fission of the ground state and to the decay of an isomeric state but without the possibility to determine if the isomeric state decayed directly via fission or via internal electromagnetic transitions to the ground state. The data obtained in the current experiment allowed the puzzle to finally be resolved, attributing the shorter half-life of t1/2=3.8±0.3μs to the ground state and the longer half-life t1/2=34.9−3.2+3.9μs to the decay of an isomeric stat…

$\beta $-delayed $\gamma $-proton Decay in $^{56}$Zn: Analysis of the Charged-particle Spectrum

2014

A study of the $\beta$ decay of the proton-rich $T_{z}$ = -2 nucleus $^{56}$Zn has been reported in a recent publication. A rare and exotic decay mode, $\beta$-delayed $\gamma$-proton decay, has been observed there for the first time in the $fp$ shell. Here we expand on some of the details of the data analysis, focussing on the charged particle spectrum.

Remeasurement of the Lifetime of the Isomeric 9/2+State in155Dy

1982

The isomeric 9/2+ state at 132.2 keV in the nucleus 155Dy has been populated through 3He bombardment (E = 27 MeV) of a 155Gd target. The half-life of the the 9/2+ level has been determined as 51 ± 3 ns. The decay modes of the 11/2-, 234.2 keV level have been confirmed. For both levels the hindrance factors calculated with the particle-rotor model have been compared with other predictions available.

Potentials for modeling cold collisions between Na (3S) and Rb (5S) atoms

2005

The experimental characterization of the electronic states correlated to the asymptote of ground state Na (3S) and Rb (5S) atoms was expanded by spectroscopic data on $a\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}$ state levels using a high resolution Fourier transform spectroscopy technique. The hyperfine splitting of the $a\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}$ state levels was partially resolved and analyzed for both $\mathrm{Na}\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{85}\mathrm{Rb}$ and $\mathrm{Na}\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{87}\mathrm{Rb}$ isotopomers. Transitions to high lying levels of the $a\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}^{3}\ensuremath{\Sigma}^{+}$ and $X\phantom{\rul…

Timing Properties and Spectral States in Aquila X‐1

2003

We have analyzed five X-ray outbursts of the neutron-star soft X-ray transient Aql X-1 and investigated the timing properties of the source in correlation with its spectral states as defined by different positions in the color-color and hardness-intensity diagrams. The hard color and the source count rate serve as the distinguishing parameters giving rise to three spectral states: a low-intensity hard state, an intermediate state and a high-intensity soft state. These states are respectively identified with the extreme island, island and banana states that characterize the atoll sources. The large amount of data analyzed allowed us to perform for the first time a detailed timing analysis of…
