The article presents the results of comparative studies on the uncontaminated (virgin) leached chernozem soil in terms of heavy metal contamination due to zinc plant operations. Study object location is given. The territory under the influence of plant emissions is devoid of vegetation. Everywhere on the soil surface there are manifestations of deep erosion processes and continuous erosion of the topsoil. Dynamics and spectra of composition operators on the Schwartz space

[EN] In this paper we study the dynamics of the composition operators defined in the Schwartz space of rapidly decreasing functions. We prove that such an operator is never supercyclic and, for monotonic symbols, it is power bounded only in trivial cases. For a polynomial symbol ¿ of degree greater than one we show that the operator is mean ergodic if and only if it is power bounded and this is the case when ¿ has even degree and lacks fixed points. We also discuss the spectrum of composition operators.

[EN] We study composition operators on the Schwartz space of rapidly decreasing functions. We prove that such a composition operator is never a compact operator and we obtain necessary or sufficient conditions for the range of the composition operator to be closed. These conditions are expressed in terms of multipliers for the Schwartz class and the closed range property of the corresponding operator considered in the space of smooth functions.

Social, cooperative breeding behaviour is rare in spiders and generally characterized by inbreeding, skewed sex ratios and high rates of colony turnover, processes that when combined may reduce genetic variation and lower individual fitness quickly. Hölder Continuity up to the Boundary of Minimizers for Some Integral Functionals with Degenerate Integrands

We study qualitative properties of minimizers for a class of integral functionals, defined in a weighted space. In particular we obtain Hölder regularity up to the boundary for the minimizers of an integral functional of high order by using an interior local regularity result and a modified Moser method with special test function.

Quantile regression (QR) has gained popularity during the last decades, and is now considered a standard method by applied statisticians and practitioners in various fields. In this work, we applied QR to investigate climate change by analysing historical temperatures in the Arctic Circle. This approach proved very flexible and allowed to investigate the tails of the distribution, that correspond to extreme events. The presence of quantile crossing, however, prevented using the fitted model for prediction and extrapolation.
