Insight into particle production mechanisms via angular correlations of identified particles in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

Two-particle angular correlations were measured in pp collisions at s√=7 TeV for pions, kaons, protons, and lambdas, for all particle/anti-particle combinations in the pair. Data for mesons exhibit an expected peak dominated by effects associated with mini-jets and are well reproduced by general purpose Monte Carlo generators. However, for baryon–baryon and anti-baryon–anti-baryon pairs, where both particles have the same baryon number, a near-side anti-correlation structure is observed instead of a peak. The existence of solutions for the modified (p(x), q(x))-Kirchhoff equation

We consider the Dirichlet problem-Delta(Kp)(p(x))u(x) - Delta(Kq)(q(x))u(x) = f(x, u(x), del u(x)) in Omega, u vertical bar(partial derivative Omega) = 0,driven by the sum of a p(x)-Laplacian operator and of a q(x)-Laplacian operator, both of them weighted by indefinite (sign-changing) Kirchhoff type terms. We establish the existence of weak solution and strong generalized solution, using topological tools (properties of Galerkin basis and of Nemitsky map). In the particular case of a positive Kirchhoff term, we obtain the existence of weak solution (= strong generalized solution), using the properties of pseudomonotone operators.

The chapter focuses on the role of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) in turning nursing into a trained profession and a viable and respectable career option for Victorian women seeking employment outside of the home. Nightingale's accomplishments and her thoughts on women's lot in life as expressed in her essay "Cassandra", are presented against the backdrop of the ideology of separate spheres which circumscribes women within the domestic domain. This paper investigates the typology of the Portuguese public wash-houses that represents a very important sanitary aid and a space of social aggregation. More particularly, the most common features of such a typology will be outlined: architectural configuration, materials and technology, constructive characteristics, hydraulic equipment, historical evolution. The current thesis focuses in one of Spain’s most relevant authors: Pedro Dorado Montero. Acting as a bridge between the criminal law conceptions of the 19th and 20th centuries, Dorado Montero offered a very unique, original theory: the ‘Derecho protector de los criminales’ (Protective Law of the Criminals). Towards the end of the 19th century, a clash between the penal neoclassical theories and the new positivist theories took place. As a result, the hegemony of the old school was contested.
