This two-part article reviews how the UK authorities have fared in the practical application of Directive 2004/38/EC in the five years since it entered into force. It identifies and examines the most common problems faced by EU citizens when seeking to have their rights recognised by the UK authorities applying the Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006 by reference to questions and complaints received by Your Europe Advice. Masteroppgave i informasjonssystemer 2007 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand E-demokrati er et satsningsområde i offentlig sektor. Det har i Norge vært synkende deltagelse i valg både til Storting og kommunevalg ved de siste valgene. Ungdom i aldersgruppen 18 til 21 år har lavere oppslutning rundt valgene enn eldre aldersgrupper. Flere mener at e-demokrati kan bidra til å øke oppslutning rundt demokratiet og valgene. I denne sammenheng er ungdom en viktig målgruppe. Vi har sett nærmere på e-demokrati rettet mot ungdom. Following the occupation of Eritrea in 1941, British authorities in London promoted a currency policy aimed at replacing the Italian lira with a sterling-based currency basket. In May 1942, they opted for the enforcement of the East African shilling as the new legal tender. The lire, however, did not disappear overnight. Their circulation was tolerated—and, in some cases, even encouraged—by British authorities in Asmara, which exploited the small deal of autonomy they enjoyed from London to adapt the new monetary system to the needs of local governance. Background: Previous literature suggests that higher ambient temperature may play a role in increasing the risk of suicide. However, no multi-country study has explored the shape of the association and the role of moderate and extreme heat across different locations. Objectives: We examined the short-term temperature–suicide relationship using daily time-series data collected for 341 locations in 12 countries for periods ranging from 4 to 40 y. Introduction: The tick-borne disease Lyme Borreliosis is caused by Borrelia bacteria. The disease can persist even after treatment with antibiotics, which is why other methods of treatment are needed. Herbal compounds and phytochemicals have been recently examined in relation to eradicating Borrelia bacteria in vitro. Wilde’s story “The Portrait of Mr. W.H.” blurs literary genres, asserts the importance of the false and plays with reader expectations. It has generated a substantial exege- sis, perhaps lacking in interest in the multi-faceted debates on belief running through the 1870s-1880s. Wilde takes part in that debate through a text of uncertain status and complex editorial history, contrasting Newmanian assent with W.K. Clifford’s ethics of belief (1877), before asserting the supremacy of desire, thus ruining all assent and epistemically justified belief. Maģistra darbs veidots ar mērķi noskaidrot B. burgdorferi ārējās virsmas proteīnu BB0689 un BBA73 potenciālo lomu patogēna un saimniekorganisma mijiedarbībā, kas varētu paplašināt mūsu zināšanas par Laimboreliozes patoģenēzi. Borēlijas proteīnu un zīdītāju vai artropodu proteīnu iespējamā mijiedarbība ir noteikta, izmantojot Ni-NTA afinitātes hromatogrāfiju, proteīnu kompleksu imūnprecipitāciju (Co-Ip) un attālināto Western blotu. Konstatēto mijiedarbības partneru identifikācijai ir izmantota MALDI-TOF masas spektrometrija. Pētījuma rezultātā ir konstatēta BB0689 iespējamā saistība ar vairākiem zīdītāju proteīniem, savukārt BBA73 gadījumā ir novērota tā mijiedarbība ar Ixodes ērču proteīnie…
