The significance of student voice: female students’ interpretations of failure in Tanzanian secondary education

Abstract: In Tanzania, the national examinations are used as the primary tools for selection and transition from lower to upper secondary education. Female students are more likely to fail in the national exams and to drop out from education. This article examines the perspectives of female students concerning their advancement in secondary education. Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof (2007): Subverting Gender through Genre or Vice Versa?

International audience; The article examines how Death Proof (Tarantino, 2007) subverts both gender and genre by mixing several genres (the slasher, the car movie, the buddy movie) generally considered to be male, either at the diegetic level (e.g. the main characters) or at the level of reception (i.e. the target audience). The film's play on gender and genre, which is clearly based on the idea that film genres are gendered, is, then, enabled by the very discursivity of these norms. Tässä liikuntaläksykokeilussa tutkittiin, miten erilaiset liikunnalliset kotitehtävät, liikuntaläksyt, toteutuivat koululiikunnan osana ja miten oppilaat kokivat liikuntaläksyt sekä oman osallisuutensa niiden tekemisessä. Liikuntaläksykokeilu toteutettiin lukuvuonna 2015–2016 keskisuomalaisessa koulussa 6.–9.-luokan tyttöjen kanssa, yhteensä 117 tyttöä. Liikuntaläksykokeilun päätteeksi tehdyn oppilaskyselyn vastaukset analysoitiin frekvenssien, ristiintaulukoiden (khiin neliötesti) ja keskiarvovertailujen avulla (varianssianalyysi ja t-testi). Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää millaisia käännösratkaisuja kääntäjät ovat käyttäneet kulttuuristen viittausten ja sanaleikkien kääntämiseen audiovisuaalisessa aineistossa, joka asettaa kääntämiselle monia haasteita.
