0137 : Takotsubo cardiomyopathy following acute cerebral events
2016
International audience; ObjectiveTakotsubo cardiomyopathy is characterized by a transient apical ventricular dysfunction typically induced by an acute stress. Acute cerebral events including ischemic stroke (IS) or Epileptic Event (EE) may both be associated with massive catecholamine release. We aimed to identify the characteristics and outcomes of patients who experienced Takotsubo syndrome complicating an IS or EE.MethodsBetween 2008 and 2013, 87 patients were admitted in our Intensive Care Unit for suspected Takotsubo syndrome, of whom 6 previously experienced acute cerebral symptoms with either IS or EE, within two days. Takotsubo syndrome was diagnosed on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance, e…

013 Pre-infarction angina and cardiovascular complications in non ST segment elevation myocardial infarction: Data from the RICO survey
2010
BackgroundThe presence of preinfarction angina (PIA) has been shown to confer cardioprotection after ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (MI). However, the impact of PIA in non ST segment elevation (NSTEMI) remains to be determined.Patients and MethodsFrom the obseRvatoire des Infarctus de Côte d’Or (RICO) survey, 1541 consecutive patients admitted in intensive care unit with a first NSTEMI were included in the study. Patients who experienced chest pain 1) and 30-day mortality were collected.ResultsAmong the 1541 patients included in the study, 693 patients presented PIA. Baseline clinical characteristics were similar for the 2 groups. There was no significant difference for the GRAC…
Distribution of Ha-ras alleles in patients with colorectal cancer and Crohn's disease.
1991
The allele distribution of the Ha-ras gene on chromosome 11p was analysed by the restriction fragment length polymorphism of the enzymes Mspl/Hpall in 238 individuals. The investigation covered 116 patients with colorectal carcinoma and 122 patients with Crohn's disease, representing two patient populations with the same ethnic origin, one with a malignant and the other a benign disease of the same organ system. A total of 17 different alleles were detected belonging to the common, intermediate, and rare classes according to the original nomenclature of Ha-ras alleles. Patients with Crohn's disease showed no difference in the distribution of Ha-ras alleles when compared with expected freque…
Editorial for the Special Issue “Frontiers in Spectral Imaging and 3D Technologies for Geospatial Solutions”
2019
This Special Issue hosts papers on the integrated use of spectral imaging and 3D technologies in remote sensing, including novel sensors, evolving machine learning technologies for data analysis, and the utilization of these technologies in a variety of geospatial applications. The presented results showed improved results when multimodal data was used in object analysis.
Horizontal and Vertical Reconstruction of the Severely Resorbed Maxillary Jaw Using Subantral Augmentation and a Novel Tenting Technique with Bone fr…
2013
Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using the lateral wall bone in sinus lifting two-dimensional reconstruction on bone augmentation.Patients and Methods Ten patients affected by class V or VI maxillary atrophy with less than 3 mm of residual horizontal ridge were selected. Using a piezo-ultrasonic surgery tip bony lateral wall was cut. To expose native bone to the bone graft, multiple perforations, made through the cortical plate of the recipient site with a round bur. Once the bony buccal wall was adjusted it was fixed away from the ridge with two 1.5 x 13 mm bone fixation screws. Deficiencies created between the bony buccal wall and the ridge was filled with a mineral…
Can Avatar Appearance Influence Physical Activity? User-Avatar Similarity and Proteus Effects on Cardiac Frequency and Step Counts
2020
This study combined user-avatar similarity and Proteus effect predictions to incentivize physical activity. 305 participants ran while wearing accelerometers and a heart rate monitor. They were randomly assigned to onscreen motion-capturing avatars displaying either participant or stranger faces dressed in sports or formal clothes. Participants assigned to avatars displaying their own face showed increased cardiac frequency compared with those exposed to avatars with a stranger's face. Relative to the remaining conditions, participants assigned to avatars with their own face also wearing sports clothes showed increased cardiac frequency but participants assigned to avatars with a stranger's…
Obstructive sleep apnea and Alzheimer’s disease-related cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers in mild cognitive impairment
2020
Abstract Previous studies have demonstrated that sleep-breathing disorders, and especially obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), can be observed in patients with a higher risk of progression to Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Recent evidence indicates that cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) AD-biomarkers are associated with OSA. In this study, we investigated these associations in a sample of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a condition that is considered the first clinical phase of AD, when patients showed biomarkers consistent with AD pathology. A total of 57 patients (mean age = 66.19; SD = 7.13) with MCI were included in the study. An overnight polysomnography recording was used to assess objec…
Comparison of the main oesophageal pathophysiological characteristics between short- and long-segment Barrett's oesophagus
2002
Aim: To assess the oesophageal manometric characteristics and 24-h pH profiles of patients with both short-segment and long-segment Barrett's oesophagus and compare them with those of patients with reflux oesophagitis and controls. Methods: Seventy-nine patients who had undergone upper digestive endoscopy were recruited: 16 had short-segment Barrett's oesophagus, 13 had long-segment Barrett's oesophagus, 25 had grade III oesophagitis according to the Savary–Miller classification and 25 were used as controls. The diagnosis of Barrett's oesophagus was based on the histological detection of specialized intestinal metaplasia, which extended 3 cm in patients with long-segment disease. All subje…
Identification of a novel mutation of MTP gene in a patient with abetalipoproteinemia.
2011
Abetalipoproteinemia (ABL), or Bassen-Kornzweig syndrome, is a rare autosomal recessive disorder of lipoprotein metabolism, characterized by fat malabsorption, hypocholesterolemia retinitis pigmentosa, progressive neuropathy and acanthocytosis from early infancy. We describe the clinical and molecular characterization of a 6-month-old infant born of consanguineous, apparently healthy parents from Iran. The patient was hospitalized because of failure to thrive, greasy stool and vomiting. The patient's serum lipid profile, the clinical phenotype and the duodenal histology suggested the clinical diagnosis of ABL. The MTP gene analysis by direct sequencing revealed a novel homozygous mutation (…
