The Calabrian Arc represents one of the most active sectors of the upper plate of the Tyrrhenian-Ionian subduction system. This research aims to reconstruct the evolution of the Squillace Basin (Ionian offshore of the Calabrian Arc) from the Late Miocene to Recent times and recognise active shallow and deep structures using a multiscale approach. The latter is based on interpreting high-penetration and high-resolution seismic reflection profiles, calibrated with well-log data coupled with bathymetric data and the distribution of instrumental earthquakes. Geoconservation in Sicily (Italy): the Example of the Isola delle Femmine (Palermo)

Abstract The Regional Administration of Sicily recently erected Isola delle Femmine—a small island of the Tyrrhenian Sea, close to Palermo—as a geosite. A detailed geological survey has been carried out in order to define the most important geological features of the island together with the development of a new geological map based on topographic data and a digital model at 1:2.000 scale specially processed. Finally, a geological pathway through the island has been traced and illustrated. A User-Friendly Tool for Detecting the Stress Level in a Person s Daily Life

[EN] Mental health care represents over a third of the cost of health care to all EU nations and, in USA, it is estimated to be around the 2.5% of the gross national product. Depression and Stress related disorders are the most common mental illnesses. The European project OPTIMI will develop tools to make predictions through the early identification on the onset of the disease. In this paper, we present a user-friendly application developed in the OPTIMI project to detect the stress level in a person's daily life. The results of a first usability study of this application are also presented.

Il testo affronta lo studio di un’opera giovanile di Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda (1834-1911), figura di spicco del panorama architettonico in Sicilia tra la seconda metà dell’Ottocento ed i primi del Novecento. Il progetto del Gran Caffè, vincitore di prestigiosi riconoscimenti, anche se realizzato quando Damiani non era ancora trentenne, risulta molto maturo e segna una tappa importante nella formazione dell’architetto. La ricchissima produzione di Giusppe Damiani Almeyda (Capua 1834 – Palermo 1911) comprende, tra le sue opere giovanili il Progetto per una chiesa cattedrale, presentato all’Esposizione di Belle Arti di Palermo del 1856. Il presente studio è il frutto dell'analisi delle fonti documentarie presenti nell'Archivio Damiani di Palermo, che hanno consentito l'analisi del manufatto architettonico e la ricostruzione congetturale del modello.
