Il presente lavoro consiste in una traduzione dei frammenti attribuiti alla Tebaide di Antimaco di Colofone (1-66 M.), nonché delle fonti che li tramandano, seguita da un commento sul piano morfologico, sintattico, lessicale, critico-testuale e tematico. Ciascun frammento analizzato, sebbene consti di pochi versi, talora di un solo verso o di una semplice glossa, comporta complesse questioni di natura testuale ed esegetica. Not being epistemologically different from treatment of congenital diseases, the therapy of hereditary diseases has to be considered in its complex relationship with the concepts of nature and culture, and with the ideas of Greek authors about generation and education. Nel passo tucidideo esaminato si difende la lezione οἱ αὐτοί attraverso il raffronto con testi greci finora non considerati nel dibattito critico, e soprattutto alla luce della visione non elitista della democrazia quale emerge nell’Epitafio di Pericle. In the passage examined οἱ αὐτοί is defended by comparing it with Greek texts so far not considered in the critical debate, and especially in light of the non-elitist idea of democracy as it emerges in Pericles' Epitaphius.

Although we do not find in the narrative of the Peloponnesian War an explicit analogy between the phases of human life (more or less distributed) and those of the great political bodies, it remains nevertheless fruitful in my opinion to explore the text in search of clues for biological metaphors. In particular, I will follow the traces left throughout the narrative by three crucial elements: daring (τόλμα), desire (ἔρως), disease (νόσος). The Greek version of the const. Imperatoriam reproduces a discourse made by an antecessor of Justinian’s age in the introductory lesson of his course on Institutes. He translated the constitution with the addition of didactical explications and clarifying remarks. Some terminological peculiarities induce to deny that this antecessor was Theophilos. Rather, we are faced with a fragment of teaching’s activity on Institutes of a not-recognizable Justinianic antecessor.
