A Bidirectional IPT system for Electrical Bicycle Contactless Energy Transfer
2019
Contactless Energy Transfer characterized by Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) is a viable solution for Electric Vehicle (EV) battery charging, giving advantages in terms of safety, comfort and automatism of the recharging operation. IPT is a smart option for the Vehicle- To-Grid (V2G) implementation as well: the EV's battery can provide power to other users, if possible and if required, in order to adequately respond to an active demand scenario. IPT shall therefore allow a Bidirectional power flow, so that it can be properly defined as Bidirectional IPT (BIPT). In this paper, a 300 W BIPT system for E-bikes is proposed and experimental results are shown as well. Considering power level and s…
Tracing battery usage for second life market with a blockchain-based framework
2021
This work describes the design of a platform based on a permissioned blockchain for sharing relevant information among the actors involved in grid service provision programs. The information collected by a proprietary monitoring on-board system accessing the central unit of the Electric Vehicle, EV, is then sent to a dropbox folder owned by the car owner and then written on a blockchain platform. The platform could be supplied from similar data from the grid operator collected on the grid during the provision of services. In this way data can be validated and used for tracing the health status of the EV's battery. The design of customized smart contract allows to acquire the profiles of bat…
Power Grid Integration and Use-Case Study of Acid-Base Flow Battery Technology
2021
There are many different types of energy storage systems (ESS) available and the functionality that they can provide is extensive. However, each of these solutions come with their own set of drawbacks. The acid-base flow battery (ABFB) technology aims to provide a route to a cheap, clean and safe ESS by means of providing a new kind of energy storage technology based on reversible dissociation of water via bipolar electrodialysis. First, the main characteristics of the ABFB technology are described briefly to highlight its main advantages and drawbacks and define the most-competitive use-case scenarios in which the technology could be applied, as well as analyze the particular characteristi…
Comparative Results of Some Methods of Beekeeping

Application of A Precision Apiculture System to Monitor Honey Daily Production †
2020
Precision beekeeping or precision apiculture is an apiary management strategy based on the monitoring of individual bee colonies to minimize resource consumption and maximize the productivity of bees. Bees play a fundamental role in ensuring pollination
Design of an innovative system for precision beekeeping
2019
The innovative technologies of precision agriculture can be applied today to different productive sectors of agriculture in order to optimize crop production and to improve the quality of the final products. One of these is beekeeping, a very important sector both from an environmental and a production standpoint. The production of honey depends on many factors, some of which are environmental factors such as temperature, relative humidity and wind. The aim of this study was the design of a Precision Apicolture System (PAS) platform for monitoring and controlling the main environmental factors, both inside and outside the hive, in order to assess their influence on the honey daily productio…
Water transmission properties of a sandy-loam soil estimated with Beerkan runs differing by the infiltration time criterion
2021
Abstract The Beerkan method consists of a ponded infiltration experiment from a single ring inserted a small depth into the soil. Fixed, small volumes of water are repeatedly poured into the ring to maintain a quasi-zero head on the soil surface. According to the standard Beerkan infiltration run, a new water volume is poured on the infiltration surface when the previously applied volume has completely infiltrated and the soil surface is entirely exposed to air (ta criterion). However, water could also be applied when the soil exposition to air begins (to criterion) or half the soil surface is exposed to air (tm criterion). The effect of the infiltration time criterion on determination of t…
Surface finish on hardened bearing steel parts produced by superhard and abrasive tools
2007
New technological process consisting of hard turning (HT) followed by abrasive machining, in place of the widely used method in industry, i.e., hard turning versus grinding, has lately been launched in the automotive industry. This is because, many transmissions parts, such as synchronizing gears, crankshafts and camshafts require superior surface finish along with appropriate fatigue performance. This paper provides a comprehensive characterization of part surface finish produced in dry turning of a hardened AISI 52100 bearing steel using mixed ceramic (MC) and PCBN tools, and also its modification after special abrasive finishing operations including superfinishing (SF) and belt grinding …
Collembolan communities in deciduous forests of different origin in Finland
2006
The aim of the study was to compare the collembolan communities in anthropogenous birch stands of different origin with each other and with natural forests at the same latitude. Nine sites were investigated: three birch stands (Betula pendula) planted ca. 30 years prior to the study after clear-cutting of spruce stands, three birch stands planted ca. 30 years earlier on arable soil that had been under cultivation until reforestation, and three natural deciduous forests. These were sampled in August and October 1998, and microarthropods were extracted, counted and identified. Thirty years after reforestation, the collembolan communities of “Birch after Spruce” and “Birch after Field” differe…
Vidzemes Lielais Zviedru Kadastrs kā saimniecības vēstures avots
1942
Tas bija labi izstrādāts kadastrs, un to izmantoja no 1691. līdz 1911. gadam, t. i., 220 gadus. Viens no pasākumiem bija …
